Shouldn't this be in the Casey's Top 40 section? Oops. Sorry. I have no idea how to move this thread. My apologies. Scott would have to do it. I have a couple shows I could post too. This thread also kind of makes me want to put together a list of those who are known to have carried both shows.

It'd be interesting to know how many of these affiliates dropped AT40 upon Casey's Top 40 starting. Before CT40 started, Q-102 Cincinnati aired AT40 at both 9 AM and 9 PM on Sundays. The morning airing was replaced with CT40.

And interestingly, San Francisco was the biggest radio market to never air AT40 during the Shadoe era. KITS (Live 105) dropped the show in 1987.

It'd be interesting to know how many of these affiliates dropped AT40 upon Casey's Top 40 starting. I know WAPE in Jacksonville didn't. In fact, their Sunday schedule was as follows: 6am-Scott Shannon's Rockin America Top 30 Countdown 9am-Casey's Top 40 6pm-American Top 40 10pm-repeat of one of the morning shows, it was usually Casey's Top 40 but not always. Some of the stations that dropped AT40 for Casey once "Casey's Top 40" premiered in Jan. '89 include WMC-FM Memphis, WPIQ Brunswick, GA, WRBQ-FM Tampa, WTHZ Tallahassee and WAYS Macon, GA. 107 WANS in Greenville, SC dropped AT40 when Casey left but picked up AT40 again a year after Shadoe took over as host in Aug. '89 and carried it up to Feb. '91 when they went AC; they were also an original "Casey's Top 40" affiliate and carried it up to Feb. '91. WANS carried Scott Shannon's countdown show until Aug. '89 when they picked up AT40 again and they also carried Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 up to Feb. '91. WKSF in Asheville, NC dropped AT40 for "Casey's Top 40" by the Spring of 1989 within months after "Casey's Top 40" started. WRVQ "Q-94" in Richmond, VA eventually dropped AT40 for "Casey's Top 40" in 1990. WNOK in Columbia, SC later on dropped AT40 for Casey; they became a "Casey's Top 40" affiliate in late 1990. WNCI in Columbus, OH dropped AT40 for "Casey's Top 40" in early 1991. WNFI in Daytona Beach dropped AT40 for "Casey's Top 40" when they switched from I-100 to The New 99.9 FM in April '92; 16 months later, they became 99.9 Kiss FM (the call letters change to WFKS came 2 months later) and still carried "Casey's Top 40" until April '94. And WPIQ Brunswick, GA carried "Casey's Top 40" for only 6 months; they flipped to Urban as WHJX (Hot 101.5) and moved to Jacksonville in July '89. And WPOW (Power 96) in Miami dropped AT40 when Casey left; Y-100 picked up AT40 with Shadoe the following month in Sept. '88. And Power 96 in Miami was an original "Casey's Top 40" affiliate.

WXLK in Roanoke began airing AT40 in January 1981 (recently we heard a show in which Casey welcomed it), and as indicated here picked up CT40 when it debuted; I don't know exactly when they dropped AT40 In the 1990s, when I was in college in that area, WXLK played both Casey and Rick Dees. K-92 in Roanoke dropped AT40 before Casey left, sometime in the mid-'80s. WSLQ (Q99) was an AT40 affiliate when Casey left and Shadoe took over as host.

WQGN (G105) last play AT40 the previous week and played CT40 the first week aired in 1989 through the 2nd week of TOP 40 in 1998 and resume AT40 the next week when Casey Kasem returned. They still play AT40 today with no opt songs.

And interestingly, San Francisco was the biggest radio market to never air AT40 during the Shadoe era. KITS (Live 105) dropped the show in 1987. I recall hearing the Shadoe version of AT40 locally on KWSS (now KBAY) in San Jose during 1989-90. I'm not sure when they started carrying the show, or when they dropped it.
