Sad to say, but I think the four-hour 70s shows will be discontinued by the time they get to the four-hour 1978 shows. If the majority of stations will not (or cannot) play the first hour, then why bother? Welll I wouldnt say to give up yet, considering the majority of the stations that air the 70's show chose the Dick Clark show so we wount know if those staions would have ran the 4 hour 79 show.

I wanted to thank Mike very much for creating the list of stations that planned to carry the Dick Clark 03/25/72 program this week. I'm sure that took alot of work and time to do but it made it very easy to find the stations that were carrying the Dick Clark show, which had never run before and I wanted to record it, whcih I did. It was a great show with the first 45 I ever bought at number #1 "A Horse With No Name". Again thank you very much. Take Care. Well...erm...if you want to thank somebody, you should be thanking jdelachjr2002. He's the one who originally started the list over in the weekly 70s show thread. Alls I did was copy what he had and pasted it over here for convenience.

The end of the 1979 show on the station from Columbus OH has been a little bit in the jungle, the outro of the show, the iHeart Banner and the song by Neil Diamond , all at once.

And KMCQ stopped the rerun of Hour 1 and started Hour 2.

WMJI (Cleveland) is supposed to be playing the Dick Clark special. They even introduce the show as Dick Clark hosted on their broadcast. Instead they are playing the 3 hour 4/28/79. It looks like WMJI started playing the Dick Clark episode about an hour or so late. I tuned out and stopped recording while they were still playing 1979 at the top of hour 2 (of the 3 hour version). The show ran late, but apparently they played the complete program finishing with "A Horse with No Name" a few minutes ago. This was one of my most wanted episodes, and I'm having the darnedest time getting a decent recording between programming errors and my own mistakes.

Sad to say, but I think the four-hour 70s shows will be discontinued by the time they get to the four-hour 1978 shows. If the majority of stations will not (or cannot) play the first hour, then why bother? Well, a couple things in regard to that: -This is somewhat of an odd weekend to initiate full 4-hr shows given that there is an optional 3-hour show that subscribers can pick up as an alternative to the 79 show, which many have chosen to do. It begs the question of how many of those stations were considering the 4-hr 79 show before the DC show became available. -Despite the alternate DC show, are there other stations considering the full 4-hour show, but are in a wait and see mode as to the results for the stations that actually do the full show? Are they looking at how stations like WODC schedule it, how it goes for them in terms of ratings, adjusting normal programming, etc.? -Finally, does any of that matter to Premiere? Would that stop them from offering the 4-hr versions even if only a handful of stations choose to play the 1st hour? Does it cost them anything, or do they simply see it as a way for those handful of stations to pull in extra ratings for those whom the 1st hour is successful. Exactly. I also believe the stations who do not have programming restrictions to prevent them from extending the program one hour (either an hour earlier or later) will come on board if we (the listener) are doing our jobs. To be blunt, their resistance is more of a reflection of AT40 fans who did not campaign hard enough to influence these stations to change. That would include myself, who did not write as many emails as I hoped to. But one of the challenges we AT40 listeners have is not knowing the specific dates of the 4 hour programs well in advance so that information can be included in the emails or phone calls. Having that knowledge will allow both the AT40 listener, and eventually the Program Director, to be empowered to make sure it happens. So I guess I am looking to Scott, Pete, and anyone else who can help us with obtaining the date of the next 4 hour program so we can get to work. In addition, it did not help that the first 4 hour program chosen already aired on XM a few years back, so that didn't exactly inspire all listeners to campaign to hear the complete program when they have already heard it before. So I am also asking for "new" 4 hour programs to be scheduled for future 4 hour airings or we may never get everyone on board.

^Many listeners don't have or listen to SXM, so this shouldn't matter. Plus, they butcher the shows anyway.

^Many listeners don't have or listen to SXM, so this shouldn't matter. Plus, they butcher the shows anyway. We need support from ALL listeners, not many listeners. Also, I don't believe XM always butchered their shows. I haven't checked yet to see if the April '79 program that XM aired some time ago was complete or butchered.

4/28/79 was played when? 4, 5 years ago? So I don't think this made a difference. Many (yes, not all) didn't listen to SXM back then. Golly.
There are likely lots and lots of Premiere listeners that don't even know about this 4-hour info and not know about this board. Heck, I didn't even know about the shows and the board until 3 years after the rebroadcasts started. These are the ones that I think will make a difference.
For example, I live in Southern California where there are 15 million people or so. And yet, I think there are no more than 10 of us from SoCal on this board. I'm sure more than 10 people listen to AT40 on KOLA. I e-mail KOLA all the time regarding recommendations but 10 people, let alone, a few of us, are not going to make a difference. But it doesn't hurt to try and recruit other listeners.
