Only serious attempts - not intentionally bad.
My nominee is Easy Come Easy Go by Bobby Sherman. I have heard it a few times lately and it almost sounds like he isn't even trying - almost. Just horrible.

I never could stand Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You". She definitely had a great range and could hit the high notes, but in this song she took it to the nails-on-a-chalkboard level. And the chirping birds and coy lyrics ("Every time that we--ooh") made it even worse.

Dr. Hook in "Sylvia's Mother"...they had some good songs by the end of the 70's, but that one was cringe-worthy.

Nick Gilder - Hot Child In The City
I hate this guy's voice.

The really odd thing about Minnie Ripertons Lovin You is that it was written for her newly born daughter, Mya Rudolph (best known from Saturday Night Live). The end of the song where she says Mya Mya Mya makes sense but the rest of it seems odd to be about your infant daughter.

Re: Nick Gilder- Another of those "Gee, I thought that was a woman singing" songs. Yeah, especially his somewhat obscure 1979 song "(You Really) Rock Me". For years, I thought that song was by a woman, but I couldn't quite figure out who.

One of the worst vocals of the 1970s was Melanie's "Brand New Key" - her voice was just awful! Janis Joplin's "Mercedes-Benz", though it never made it to AT40, was equally as awful too. No instruments, just an awful voice for being sung a capella. I'm glad it didn't enter the top 40. Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy" was a lot better, IMO. Do you mean the singer with the hit "Pop Muzik"?

Quite creepy actually...if that's really true, I'm not sure I will ever hear that song the same. Not sure why you would include that line if it was about your kid...maybe it started off as being about Mya and then ended up as something different?
