It can be even more complicated: In Austria, summer time was first introduced in 1916 in the Habsburg Monarchy and applied for the time being until 1920. It was suspended once in 1919. In 1938 ("the dark chapter of history") the German regulation applied, which brought the reintroduction of summer time. This remained in place until 1948. After the oil crises of 1973, 1979 and 1980, summer time was reintroduced in some European countries in the late 1970s. In Austria, the legal framework for reintroduction was adopted in 1976. The comeback of summer time then took place on 4/6/1980 ( April). In the first year the clocks were changed over at midnight, and since 1981 the changeover from 3 am to 2 am (or vice versa) has taken place in the current form. The only difference at the beginning was that between 1980 and 1995 the last Sunday in September was postponed, only since 1996 the last Sunday in October applies (reason for the shift from September to October were Great Britain and Ireland). The time changes in Western and Eastern Europe will take place at the same time as the changeover in Austria. In the USA, some states, such as Hawaii, do not have summer time. Other countries with summer time include Egypt, Argentina, Australia (partly), Brazil (non-uniform), Iran, Israel, Canada (partly), Mexico and New Zealand. Yeah now it's just down to Hawaii and Arizona. Indiana (well, most but not all of) used to not change their clocks until about 2005 or so. I remember when Indiana began changing their clocks back in 2006 after a 2005 law was passed, though debates from farmers along with interstate businesses still continue about whether to observe it and be either on Central or Eastern time for the entire state!

Florida is trying to go to being on Daylight Savings Time year round. I have no interest in this idea at all. All of Florida, including the part (panhandle) on Central Time? That's just plain stupid. But so is the whole idea of DST.

But so is the whole idea of DST. Actually, it would be the other way. Florida would be on Atlantic Time from November to March. I honestly don't know how the panhandle would be treated. I assume they would be on Eastern time from November to MArch. But yes, unless the whole country does the same thing, it would be senseless for only Florida to be on its own time.

Can I join in the DST hate? Great. I’m dreading setting my clocks back. Really, it’s so pointless.

Cool, though it's too bad that neither station plays the extras.
(I might be busy tomorrow afternoon when KABQ broadcasts the show)
Normally, I wouldn't care, but seeing as most of the extras are new this time around, this is an exception.

Can't believe anyone our age has not heard it before. Was quite popular in the clubs in '82. Half of Yaz(oo) was the great Alison Moyet who was huge in the UK but only had one minor top 40 hit in the Us, "Invisible". The laugh in "Situation" got plenty of airplay in the '90s--it was sampled in "Macarena".

^I seem to remember it in the remix of a Madonna song (perhaps "Vogue"). I also seem to remember it in "Strike It Up" by Black Box.

Even Robert Plant was raving like this back then. And Boy George added: "I love Yazoo. It´s the only record that has touched me emotionally in the last 10 years". And even a Tom Jones seemed to like it, at least he covered it in 1994. By the way: Here in Austria it was a "B"-side, because the "A"-side was "Only You":

Many classic hits listeners probably know "Situation" now, even if they didn't hear much of it when it was new, as it gets quite a lot of recurrent play there and other places that play a lot of 80s music. Those who may not know it from the title should just think of it as being called "Move Out", and that should do it for many.
