Want to put this out there. On I-Heart Radio there is a new station "Lost 80's". Songs that don't get the most air play today. Entertaining to listen to. Have not heard Yaz on their yet.

All of Florida, including the part (panhandle) on Central Time? That's just plain stupid. But so is the whole idea of DST. Actually, it would be the other way. Florida would be on Atlantic Time from November to March. I honestly don't know how the panhandle would be treated. I assume they would be on Eastern time from November to MArch. But yes, unless the whole country does the same thing, it would be senseless for only Florida to be on its own time. The idea of football starting at 2pm starting the first week of November, wrestling events at like 9pm, having to figure out what time to call places because now are we an hour off or two hours off, heck work schedules all over the state changing to accommodate this because we aren’t the only state in the US would suck. It’s a bad idea and hope it never happens. If they want to go to year round STANDARD time, I feel like that’s far more amenable this daylight time. But tourism rules here and they think that extra hour of sunlight 5 months longer is really important.

It wasn't a good track from them (i did'nt know who yaz were until i heard the show and realised they were Yazoo -they changed thier name for the american market ) I like the song. Can't believe anyone our age has not heard it before. Was quite popular in the clubs in '82. Half of Yaz(oo) was the great Alison Moyet who was huge in the UK but only had one minor top 40 hit in the Us, "Invisible". The laugh in "Situation" got plenty of airplay in the '90s--it was sampled in "Macarena". I really like the song too. I don't remember hearing it in 1982, but in the fall of 1989, a local radio station played it regularly, and for a while, I thought that's when it came out. It's catchy.

One could argue that Yaz or Yazoo were probably the poor man's version of the Eurythmics at the time. After all, Alison Moyet was eventually replaced by Andy Bell in 1985 to accompany co-founder Vince Clarke, and was re-branded as Erasure. Vince Clarke was also in Depeche Mode in their early days.

Listening to the 1982 show on my run this morning I have to say that I've never heard the radio turd that was Yaz "Situation"? Ugh, that was awful. It wasn't a good track from them (i did'nt know who yaz were until i heard the show and realised they were Yazoo -they changed thier name for the american market ) There was a likelihood of confusion with "Yazoo Records", therefore for legal reasons in North America "Yaz".

FWIW this version of the Premiere Extra "Situation" was an edited version from when it last aired in 2012.

With standard time, the sun both rises and sets too early during the summer for the way society currently operates.

Totally agree with your last sentence. I may be one of the few that likes it when we "spring ahead", because the days feel longer with that hour of daylight being moved from the morning to the evening. And I dread "falling back" for the opposite reason. It gets dark by 5:00. The day seems over before it began. I do enjoy 12/22 though; the days begin getting longer at that point.

Weird. My original Premiere copy of the October 30, 1982 show had WHT Mason Williams as the 1st optional extra. There was no opening for hour 2 with Supertramp part of hour one rather than opening hour 2 as listed on the cue sheet. It's different this time around.

It's interesting to listen to faraway broadcasts and get a glimpse of the local culture. Heard lots of ads for local bingo halls during Sunny Radio's broadcasts this weekend. Perhaps bingo has a large following in the Midwest. I can't imagine hearing a bingo ad run in South Florida.

December 6 is a significant date also. The sun starts setting later in the day after that date. Congratulations on knowing that! Few people do. Most assume that since the winter solstice is December 21-22 that the earliest sunset and latest sunrise is on that date. Not so. That merely marks the shortest amount of daylight. Like you said, the earliest sunsets are in early December, and the latest sunrises about a month later in early January. The scientific/astronomical reason for this is somewhat complicated.

11/7/81 is an interesting choice since it was just played last year as an 'A' show. Its other airing was the weekend of November 2-3, 2013. Optional extras both times were: Hour #1: "Hooked On Classics" - The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (#74) Hour #2: "Centerfold" - J. Geils Band (#70; debuted) Hour #3: "Under Pressure" - Queen & David Bowi (#80; debuted) Hour #4: "Cool Night" - Paul Davis (#83; debuted) Optional extras for the November 7, 1981 'B' show are the same as it was in 2013 and last year.

Optional extras for the November 7, 1987 'A' show are: "Rock And Roll All Nite" Poison "I Live For Your Love" Natalie Cole "Tell It To My Heart" Taylor Dayne "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" Aerosmith
"Rock And Roll All Nite" replaces Laura Branigan's "Power Of Love", which was the first hour optional extra back in 2010.

A huge drop in quality right there...
