I think a few of the extras on some of the 1988 shows didn't actually chart until 1989? No, all of them debuted in 1988.

^My Facebook watcher just alerted me to this. I hope it was an honest mistake by Premiere, and likely corrected quickly before most of the 80s affils logged on to pick it up. A lot of Star1079.com listeners have gotta be puzzled as heck... Last time I heard, that station doesn't have Premiere's permission to air AT40. That's correct -- Star 107.9 has been around for several years, and my understanding is that they are not an authorized subscriber of the classic AT40 shows. Star is one of the stations that prompted Scott Lakefield to start the thread regarding posts about non-subscribing stations and/or internet-only stations that play AT40 shows without permission. In other words, we aren't supposed to post about those here...

Correct--in fact that's actually a more "normal" set of extras for a 1988 show for a change. All four of those songs debuted in the coming weeks prior to Casey's exit--all four were in the top 40 by the 7/23/88 chart. This show first aired in 2009, and therefore the extras were originally introduced by Larry Morgan and have been recycled each airing since. And Premiere didn't start doing that thing with 1988 shows where they play songs from late in the year (post Casey's departure) until maybe five years ago or so?

I'm pretty sure other 1988 shows had 1989 songs as extras. I seem to remember Bon Jovi's "Born To Be My Baby" being an extra once.

Optional extras this week are the same as was used the last time before 2019 (which is the page we're now on). So gripe away if you must. 7/9/88: Hour #1: "Fast Car" - Tracy Chapman (#43) Hour #2: "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns n' Roses (#56)*** Hour #3: "Simply Irresistible" - Robert Palmer (#46) Hour #4: "Monkey" - George Michael (#42; highest debut) *** Hmm, I think this is the set where we hear Shadoe Stevens mentioned for the only time in Premiere history!

With 7/12/80 having appeared as a 'B' earlier this month that pretty much makes 7/19/80 a no-go (puzzling choice on the part of Premiere given that the last 1980 'A' was in early May). 7/20/85 and 7/19/86 are unlikely since their respective years were featured late last month. That leaves just 7/24/82 and 7/23/83 as possibilities for the next show. I'm going to predict the 1983 show.

Any chance of catching 1976 and 1980 before they're gone?

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 7/21/84 2nd Guess - 7/16/83
So over the last four weeks, Premiere has played every year from 1985 through 1988, which one would assume implies we're due for a run of early 80's shows. Going with a show that hasn't been played as an 'A' show since 2010, and was last played as a 'B' in 2015 as an alternate to 7/20/85 (which means that almost nobody played it then). 7/24/82 is another possibility, but I'm guessing 1982 waits until the last weekend in July...

Any chance of catching 1976 and 1980 before they're gone? 1976 will be replayed by WMGN on Saturday 7 AM Eastern. I don't think there are any more replays of last week's 1980 B, though there are a couple more chances to hear 1987.

The 1980 show will be heard in about a week or so on the Classic AT40 channel (though without the extras and, I think, the archives).
