Something else on the subject of "optional extras": It´s more likely that the four extras are from #41 to #100, but it doesn´t always have to be like this. These days another extra would fit quite well: On 7/21/2019 we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first landing on the little brother of our planet Earth, the moon. The Canadian band "Men Without Hats" had a #1 smash here in Austria with "Pop Goes The World", but also the follow-up was frequently used on the radio in Austria: From the album "Pop Goes The World" here are Men Without Hats with "Moonbeam":

You’re the best, thank you so much!!! Also I'll note that KTSO replays the 80s show (presumably usually the A) on both Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8 PM. This came in handy for me a few weeks ago when I simply couldn't stay awake listening to the local Sunday night broadcast of it.

1976 will be replayed by WMGN on Saturday 7 AM Eastern. I don't think there are any more replays of last week's 1980 B, though there are a couple more chances to hear 1987. The 1980 show will be heard in about a week or so on the Classic AT40 channel (though without the extras and, I think, the archives). Thank you, both.

Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 7/21/84 2nd Guess - 7/16/83 So over the last four weeks, Premiere has played every year from 1985 through 1988, which one would assume implies we're due for a run of early 80's shows. Going with a show that hasn't been played as an 'A' show since 2010, and was last played as a 'B' in 2015 as an alternate to 7/20/85 (which means that almost nobody played it then). 7/24/82 is another possibility, but I'm guessing 1982 waits until the last weekend in July... Instead we get 1986 next week, just four weeks after the last such show, with 1985, 87, and 88 in between. Time to focus on the first half of the decade during the second half of the summer...

Premiere optional extras for 7/19/86 in 2009 were: "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" Glass Tiger "Money$ Too Tight (To Mention)" Simply Red "Words Get In the Way" Miami Sound Machine "The Captain Of Her Heart" Double Premiere optional extras for 7/19/86 in 2012 were: "The Greatest Love Of All" Whitney Houston "Money$ Too Tight (To Mention)" Simply Red "That Was Then, This Is Now" The Monkees "The Captain Of Her Heart" Double
The 2 replacements were tributes. I'll go with: "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" "Money$ Too Tight (To Mention)" "That Was Then, This Is Now" "The Captain Of Her Heart"

Optional extras this week are the same as was used the last time before 2019 (which is the page we're now on). So gripe away if you must. 7/9/88: Hour #1: "Fast Car" - Tracy Chapman (#43) Hour #2: "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns n' Roses (#56)*** Hour #3: "Simply Irresistible" - Robert Palmer (#46) Hour #4: "Monkey" - George Michael (#42; highest debut) *** Hmm, I think this is the set where we hear Shadoe Stevens mentioned for the only time in Premiere history! So I decided to listen to 7/16/88 from 2011 instead as it is closer to the actual chart date. What did I find but extra #2 in that show was also "Sweet Child O' Mine", which featured the infamous mention of Shadoe Stevens by Larry Morgan. Strange to have the same extra on back to back shows.

Wow! One more 1986 show and that year will enter the century club! Not a bad decision, as it´s the July-show that hasn´t been aired for the second longest time (2012). The biggest distance (of all July-shows) has the 7/28/84-show (2011). Maybe this show will be aired in the following week.

Thank you for that, was wondering if/when I could catch '81.

Thank you for that, was wondering if/when I could catch '81. Another great 1981 bet is KABQ Sunday 2pm EDT. May just 'bail' on 'Sunny Radio' and wait for KABQ. These 'Troy from Maverick Recruiting' drop-in breaks are getting extremely annoying. As if they didn't have enough of a commercial load already.

As an example, today's show started right at 3:00 PM and the second hour didn't start until almost 10 past 4. ETA: And now the third hour is starting at 5:15. ETA II: Hour #4 started at 6:21. ETA III: The show ended at 7:26.

If they have a heavy local commercial load they must be doing something right.
