I'm going to guess that this is the 'B' show, as it was in 2016 when 6/18/88 was the 'A'. I know they don't typically change extras for 'B' shows, but I'm a little surprised that "Down Under" didn't get swapped out for a different song -- Premiere originally offered that extra as a tribute to Men at Work saxophonist Greg Ham, who passed away within a couple months of that show's airing in 2012. But of course, "Down Under" had dropped off the 40 and the Hot 100 by the end of April.

I'm hoping that it is the latter. If so, then the "A" show almost has to be 6/13/1987, as that was last played in 2009 and 6/20/1987 was a "B" show just two years ago.

Based on a post by Pete on an AT40 Facebook group, it's a standalone show. The bonus show offering is the "A Tribute To The King of the Countdown – Casey Kasem” show hosted by Kerri & Mike Kasem.

I remember hearing that show shortly after Casey died.

"Never been to Me" is easily the worst song in the 80"s - if not history. Twice in this show will mean twice the effort to avoid it. It's actually worse than "Muscles" or "Centipede"! Nah not the worst of the 80s...the two you mentioned have it beat by far. I must say though I am a card carrying member of the Charlene Fan Club. "Never Been To Me" really has to be applauded for its strong message om 1982 no less, of how a woman can do what she wants just like a man. I will go ahead and leave this post open for additional worse songs as I come across them... Interesting that that is your 'take' on this song. It is actually 180 degrees from what most saw as the song's 'message', and why the song was assailed by many back in '82. The view of most is that the song's point of view is that a woman cannot be 'fulfilled' or 'complete' without a husband and children. That is why many feminists at the time did not like the song at all. The protagonist in the song is an older woman who is warning a younger one not to make the 'mistakes' that she has made in her life by not marrying and bearing children. "I've been to crying for unborn children who might have made me complete". And then there is the spoken word section saying that 'love' and 'truth' are one's husband and babies. Oh well, I remember someone in 1983 who had "Every Breath You Take" played at his wedding because he thought it was such a tender love song...

For me personally, "I've Never Been To Me" is definitely the worst song on this week's show (and one of the worst of the decade). And the song at #1 isn't far behind.

At the risk of getting too far off the topic, that reminds me of the time in the 90s when I was listening to an adult contemporary station and someone called in a request. They were just leaving a friend's wedding and wanted to dedicate the latest song by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men, because it had been "One Sweet Day." Even 20+ years ago, people had given up on paying attention to lyrics!

Posted on both 70s and 80s threads: Was there a recap of the 2014 tribute posted on this site anywhere, or on the pulsemusic boards? Thanks.

Cue sheets: June 18, 1983: charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/06-18-83.pdfSo 6/18/83 is indeed a standalone show...it is really a great show, but surprising they wouldn't have gone with 1987 next week. Curious to see if there are any changes to the extras. 6/18/83 has one of the best sets of debut songs ever, IMHO: "1999" - Prince (peaked at #12, but is arguably one of the most recognizable hits of the 80's still today) "Stand Back" - Stevie Nicks (peaked at #5) "Sweet Dreams" - Eurythmics (went to #1) "She Works Hard for the Money" - Donna Summer (peaked at #3) "Is There Something I Should Know" - Duran Duran (peaked at #4) In addition, if you pan up and down the Hot 100 that week, there are so many great songs that either did or didn't hit the top 40. One song that never made it out of the Bubbling Under chart, and to this day it shocks me that it didn't chart higher, is Roxy Music's "More Than This". Heck, didn't 10,000 Maniacs do better with a remake of that song, after Natalie Merchant left?

I wonder if 1987 will be chosen for the weekend of June 22-23? If so, it would most likely be June 27, given the recent "B" show airing of June 20 (2017) (Not that the June 27 was that long ago either (also as a "B" show, in 2016))

WWIS is on now with 6/5/82--here's our girl Charlene! Yep - I'm also tuned in to get my double-dose of the song! Now playing, the spoken word part! And here it is again - still at #3 on the countdown.
