I wonder if 1987 will be chosen for the weekend of June 22-23? If so, it would most likely be June 27, given the recent "B" show airing of June 20 (2017) (Not that the June 27 was that long ago either (also as a "B" show, in 2016)) I'm guessing the next 1987 show will be Independence Day weekend. The respective show last aired in 2015 and given that there are very few shows available for the month of July it seems the most likely for that week.

"Murphy's Law" by Cheri is one weird song! Can't recall ever hearing it before. Must've missed both of the shows in '82 when it was at #39.

WMGN (Magic 98) is going to play 1988 ( www.magic98.com/show/american-top-40/). And here are my four extras for the 6/18/83-show, probably more a wish than a guess: Dave Edmunds - Slipping Away David Bowie - China Girl Jarreau - Boogie Down Joan Armatrading - Drop The Pilot

WWIS is on now with 6/5/82--here's our girl Charlene! This is one of the shows in the rotation of the iHeart Classic AT40 channel. I knew the Roberta Flack story was too familiar.

For me personally, "I've Never Been To Me" is definitely the worst song on this week's show (and one of the worst of the decade). And the song at #1 isn't far behind. "I've Never Been To Me" ...couldn't agree more that it's one song that's painful to listen to in an otherwise really good countdown. Interesting that Charlene was on the Motown label in the late 70's. Also interesting (in fact much more so than the song itself), is the story behind this song's resurrection from complete obscurity. Charlene was out of the music business by 1982 and going about her life overseas in the U.K. when "I've Never Been To Me" somehow ended up getting played by a DJ in Florida for a listener voting contest (apparently against ONJ's "Physical") and won. So she got a call from a Motown Records guy out of the blue telling her this song was on its way up the charts. So yes the song is annoying as it gets, but that's one of the more fun stories behind a hit song.

Said DJ being none other than "America's Greatest Hits" host, WCBS New York 'morning guy', and Sean Hannity's radio announcer Scott Shannon. He also competed with Casey and Shadoe from 1984 until 1992 as host of Westwood One's "Scott Shannon's Rockin' America: The Top 30 Countdown". He's the man to blame! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Shannon

Who else has 6-11-88 this weekend? Based on recent history, KABQ, KFLW, KOSF, KXGL, WKZG, WLKN, WMGN & WPAC are some of the stations that should have the 6-11-88 show tomorrow.

I can see why that Murphy's Law song didn't get anywhere in the Top 40 with that annoying chorus.

That Murphy's Law "sound" as documented on CFTP show includes Newcleus "Jam On It" and some other of that era's early rap/r&b/electronic creations such as Zapp. Who knew when Cher did "Believe" what similair havoc she would wreck with her autotune on the top 40 of the 2000s?
