With 1983 airing this weekend as the last regular weekly show for the year, I think we should find out what year will be featured as the year-ender. I am leaning towards either 1985 or 1986, hoping for the latter in its entirety.

12/24 (and 12/31/83) optional extras:
Hour #1: "Yah Mo B There" - James Ingram & Michael McDonald (#50) Hour #2: "99 Red Balloons/99 Luftballoons Medley" - Nena (#62) Hour #3: "So Bad" - Paul McCartney (#49; highest debut) Hour #4: "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" - Cyndi Lauper (#69)
I guess the Hour 2 extra is basically the song in "Denglisch", a mashup of the German and English versions.

^If the English title is mentioned first, then it's probably a different mix than what AT40 aired in March 1984 and then again in the year-end Top 100.

My local station CFQM plays the full english version, at least when I listen to it. Probably the case for other classic hits stations that MBS owns as well.

12/24/83 saw Madonna launch her amazing career with "Holiday"-It was around that time that she appeared on "American Bandstand" & told Dick Clark that she wanted "to rule the world"-She certainly did. "Holiday" (and thus Madonna's career) actually debuted on AT40 on 12/10/83. Certainly Madonna's famous quote in that American Bandstand episode did turn out to be foreshadowing...

I enjoyed the video for "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"-It featured Cyndi Lauper's mom & the late wrestler "Captain Lou" Albano-Lauper was a huge wrestling fan.

I enjoyed the video for "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"-It featured Cyndi Lauper's mom & the late wrestler "Captain Lou" Albano-Lauper was a huge wrestling fan. I always thought Captain Lou was her father, I certainly wasn’t into wrestling so I had no idea. That song and the album bring back great memories, dancing in my room with my mom to Girls Just Want To Have Fun. I wore that Casette out. Even now, it’s a great anthem. Cyndi Lauper changed the lyrics so it was more of a girl power anthem. It’s still stands up as a great song. The whole album is great, she paved the way for Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. As far as Madonna goes, she was certainly correct that she would rule the world. Even 35 years later we’re still talking about her. You have to give Madonna credit, love her or hate her, she knows how to stir up controversy.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 1/3/87 - Top 100 of 1986 (#100-51) 2nd Guess - 1/4/86 - Top 100 of 1985 (#100-51)
So based on the posts over the past month or so, it sounds like these two shows are the popular picks. Still surprised it wasn't 1986 last year--and '86 would figure to be the overwhelming favorite this time around. Other than the 1980 Book of Records special, Part 1 of the 1986 Top 100 remains the only Casey-hosted show that Premiere still has yet to play in the 80's series.

Still surprised it wasn't 1986 last year 1986 was still getting a “B” show in 2017 so by delaying it a year, assuming that that’s what it’ll be, they only have to offer one show now.

I wonder if that is why they delayed it a year - otherwise, they would have felt that they needed a "B" show to go along with it. Then again, maybe not; it is possible that the decision to offer 1985 and 1986 as stand-alones had already been made at that point (possibly as soon as the holiday season started and the "B" shows were Christmas). Besides, they had a weekly 1986 show left and they might have wanted to get that on so all the regular shows could be exhausted by mid-year 2018.
Of course, this is all speculation and nothing more.
