This week's presentations (Weekend of December 22-23, 2018): December 24, 1983 / American Top 10: An American Top 10 Christmas – November 27, 2004 (BONUS) - 3 hours. Cue sheets: December 24, 1983: charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/12-24-83.pdfAwesome! Exactly two years before I was born. Congratulations in advance on your birthday. And you are in good company, because a very special song also celebrates its birthday on this day (see at40fg.proboards.com/post/150923 for details).

I guess KOLA will air an AT40 Christmas episode that next week. And that same next week WMGN Magic 98 Madison, Wisconsin will not air AT40: The 80's (and AT40: The 70's) because of its 98 hours of Christmas music sweep. But I know WLS 94.7 FM Chicago will air AT40: The 80's 12/24/1983 that pre-Christmas weekend! WWIS on Friday afternoon should be a safe bet for the '83 show as well.

And if you can hold out until Sunday night then there's WQSR, which has never preempted AT40 for Christmas music even when Christmas Eve or Day was on Sunday.

As I am listening to AT40: The 80's 12/18/1982 on WLS 94.7 FM Chicago this Sunday morning: * Is it true David Geffen used to run Asylum records before retiring and buying a shopping mall and other things before starting his own Geffen Records label as what Casey told about? * Casey plugged for his Top 100 year end countdown that many AT40 listeners sent in their own year end rankings over the years, at least they didn't top the AT40 year end rakings (except for years when AT40 used the real Billboard Hot 100 year end rankings, mostly 1985-1989).

A lot of uptempo songs, but the few ballads were pretty depressing i.e. "Think Of Laura","Read em' and weep". This countdown has the infamous "Curly Shuffle", which is one of my least favorite Top 40 hits of the 80's. I wonder how Robert Plant's "In The Mood" will be chopped down? That song reminds me of "Alive And Kicking" from Simple Minds from 1985.

"The Curly Shuffle" is one of those songs that only a true fan of The Three Stooges can appreciate. I grew up watching that show (since my brother watched it) and appreciated the slapstick humor to go along with the show. Plus, the Jump 'N The Saddle band were from Chicago, so the song was played all the time on WLS (where the song was #1 on their playlist) and B96. I liked the song, but I can see why other people would not like it - if you never (or seldom) watched The Three Stooges, or just plain did not like the show (at this point, it is somewhat passe, and the younger generation might be like, "the three what"), then you wouldn't like it - as I said, only a Three Stooges fan would like the song.

^ There’s one week where Casey does a tease and plays a drop of Curly’s laugh. Maybe it’s this one.

Yes, David Geffen started Asylum Records in 1971 and got a distribution deal with Elektra Records. He signed both The Eagles and Jackson Browne to his new label was a big part of both artists' success. Both released their first LPs and had their first hit singles in 1972.

12/24/83 saw Madonna launch her amazing career with "Holiday"-It was around that time that she appeared on "American Bandstand" & told Dick Clark that she wanted "to rule the world"-She certainly did.
