Kind of an odd choice, as this is the second 1987 A show in just over a month, while 1980 and 1981 have both been featured twice as B's in 2016 but neither as A's yet. At least the 2/28/87 show isn't a repeat.
I think 93.3/The Bus will play both 1980 and 1987, as two of the last three weeks they've played both 1980s shows. Meanwhile, there's only one 1970s show being offered, and it's a repeated three hour show.

There are two "extras" featured in the original broadcast: "Get Back" by The Beatles and "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. I wonder if either song could get bumped to optional extra status... I expect both will stay in the show, I've heard of extras being demoted to optional for 70's shows but I haven't heard of such for the 80's.

Shame that Premiere AGAIN, made '81, the B show. Just listened to all of 'em on YouTube. Not a bad song in the bunch!

I've heard that Kix 102.9 in Raleigh-Durham has two AT40 80s countdowns. Does this mean both the A and B shows are being played?

I think the probabilty of the first 1980 "A" offering is likely going to occur in April this year, unless we get a repeat of a March 1980 show later in March. As for next weekend's "A" offering... YES! We'll finally get to hear the forgotten "Don't Need a Gun" and "We Connect"! Those are great songs that radio stations seemed to forget they even existed. One fresh 1987 show to air, three more to go. The 1987 shows left to be aired after next weekend are April 4, 1987, May 16, 1987, and August 1, 1987. I still can't believe we will have gone six weeks without a Shuckatoom-era 1980s show. I bet the dry spell will come to an end by March. Though to be honest, I like the post-Shuckatoom era better, even more so with 1986 through 1988. I bet 1982 will kick off March.

Never thought I'd say this...WODC will skip ALL optional extras on the a.m. shows. Details in the WODC thread. Wow! WODC did play the first optional extra today for February 21, 1981.

I don't ever remember them waiting until April to play the first show of a certain year (1988 in 2007 doesn't count). Personally, I don't see anything wrong with airing the 3/8/80 show the first weekend in March. The "B" show for next week is 1980, but what does that have to do with anything? A vast majority of the 80s stations are going with the 1987 show, so most people aren't going to hear the 1980 show anyway. And if placing the shows in close proximity to each other is a problem, then what are they doing playing all these "B" shows from 1980 and 1981 when neither of those years have had a turn as the "A" show yet? Just my two cents' worth on the subject.

I don't ever remember them waiting until April to play the first show of a certain year Well, last year, I don't think we got a regular 1981 show as an "A" option until April. And Part II the Top 100 of 1980 technically doesn't count, even though it did air in 1981.

Though granted, it wouldn't be all that out there to do that and THEN follow up with 3/8/80...

Well, it appears they're only running the first three hours - right after the third Optional Extra, they started the 1976 show.

And Part II the Top 100 of 1980 technically doesn't count, even though it did air in 1981. I was going to point this out myself. Not only did they wait until April to play a 1981 'A' show, but it was 4/18/81 the weekend of April 18, 2015, so it wasn't even early in April. And the second half of the 1980 Top 100 doesn't count--it's a 1980 show and it's not a weekly countdown. I do think the odds of a 1980 show the weekend of March 6-7 is probably not a great possibility, but it wouldn't be out of the question to get the 3/8/80 show or the 3/15/80 show (last aired in 2010) the following weekend.
