3. Finally, on Soundcloud I found a guy who compared from #40-#1 the 1st show in 1970 to the last show in 2003. My question is it was introduced as a Premiere networks present the last AT40 from 2003 when did they air this & if they would replay it which stations would air it because it sure doesn't fit any station 70's or 80's format Casey's last AT40, originally aired the weekend of January 3, 2004, was offered as a special for stations to play when they wished last June and July, for several weeks after Casey's passing. The tribute show that Kerri and Mike Kasem hosted was another such special.

I have 3 questions 1. Since we'll never hear the 1/12/80 show guest hosted by Mike Cleary did Premiere ever use "Rappers Delight" as an extra in a 1979 or 1980 show 2. It's only been a year but do you think they'll offer the tribute show from last year as an "A" or "B" show or a bonus this father's day weekend 3. Finally, on Soundcloud I found a guy who compared from #40-#1 the 1st show in 1970 to the last show in 2003. My question is it was introduced as a Premiere networks present the last AT40 from 2003 when did they air this & if they would replay it which stations would air it because it sure doesn't fit any station 70's or 80's format I can't remember for sure off-hand, but I'm thinking that "Rapper's Delight" was offered as an extra on a late 1979 show in the last few years--possibly the 11/10/79 in 2013 ("Rapper's Delight" debuted on the Hot 100 that week).

Alright, alright...time to end the suspense. Fleetwood Mac are, indeed, the ones whom the fourth extra clue refer to. Thinking about it, I probably gave that one away in the sense that they're the ones who that clue so heavily points to...but then again, with so many choices available for each of the other three, that's a fair enough trade-off. And indeed, one of the other three went un-guessed. You're probably going to kick yourselves when you see which one it is... This week's extras are: "As Long As You Follow" - Fleetwood Mac "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" - Cinderella "One Moment In Time" - Whitney Houston "Armageddon It" - Def Leppard kchkwong, mkarns, and freakyflybry each guessed the most correct with 2 apiece - albeit, all the same 2 - but spock also gets credit for being the only one to get Whitney.

Not quite following the logic in your post in regard to the curveball extra...why would you guess against Fleetwood Mac? Not saying it will be that song, but which one better fits the clue than "As Long as You Follow" does? As for all the examples you list, the ONLY one that would make any real sense is Huey Lewis & the News with "Give Me the Keys". Of the others, most had only one or a handful of top 40 hits (not many hits as Mike said), and the others, such as the Kenny Loggins, Starship and CS&N cuts are songs that nobody today would remember (heck the Starship cut didn't even make their first Greatest Hits album). As for the Traveling Wilburys, each of them had a number of hits as solo artists or with another group, but the clue seemed to indicate that the "act" of that song had a number of other hits--the Wilburys had zero top 40s. Well, to be fair, I surely don't remember the Def Leppard, Whitney Houston or Cinderella songs without listening to them. And this was coming from a guy who listened to country music 75 percent of the time in 1989 and heard the three OEs (plus, I'm sure "As Long As You Follow") many times in late 1988 and early 1989 on the school bus ... given that the bus driver did play the local top 40 station. (I was a junior in high school then.) Brian P.S.: Many is a relative word -- Starship/Jefferson Starship/Jefferson Airplane, for instance, had many hits throughout its history and assorted name changes -- and I didn't even guess "Give Me the Keys" by Huey Lewis and the News. (I guessed "Baby Can I Hold You," a different song.)

That should come as no surprise. When it comes to optional extras, Premiere always loves to feature something related to Fleetwood Mac!

This week's extras are: "As Long As You Follow" - Fleetwood Mac "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" - Cinderella "One Moment In Time" - Whitney Houston "Armageddon It" - Def Leppard Not a big fan of any of these, except for maybe Def Leppard. "Armageddon It" isn't my favorite of theirs, but still a pretty good song. Whitney's is a nice ballad that showcases her vocal talents well, but it's still a ballad. The Cinderella and Fleetwood Mac tunes...I will pass on both of those.

The Cinderella and Fleetwood Mac tunes...I will pass on both of those. Matt... I have to disagree with you here regarding the Fleetwood Mac tune. Christine McVie's voice is golden to me... one of my all-time favorite female voices. I also love the harmonies in this tune. The hint of country in this tune had to have kept this from hitting the Top 40 but it deserved a better fate. It's an under-appreciated song. "Songbird" from Rumours, also sung by Christine, deserved to be a big hit as well. But that's what's cool about the charts and these discussions... one's favorite tune can be another's person's "No, just no!" song.

Good selection of extras this week. I particularly like Cinderella and Def Leppard. Always up for 1988-89 songs that aren't covered in the regular AT40 the 80s package.

I'm the opposite, I clearly remember the 3 OE's(def/cind/whit) but cannot place the Fleetwood Mac song at all.

Ditto that shadster. The Mac song is from their greatest hits album and even though people are saying it is a bit of a country song, it reached #1 on the rock chart. BTW, the loss of Lindsay Buckingham a couple years earlier starts showing with this single. Thier first studio Lp without Lindsay in 1990 produced one top 40 hit in "Save Me" but a small hit by their standards. The other 4 singles released from it I am not familiar with nor did any of them come anywhere near the top 40.

I'm the opposite, I clearly remember the 3 OE's(def/cind/whit) but cannot place the Fleetwood Mac song at all. I remember the Fleetwood Mac song--it's quite different than a typical FM song, and IMHO really was kind of a forgettable song. Almost as if they threw it in on the Greatest Hits LP as an afterthought or maybe to fulfill a requirement of their record contract. Dukelightning mentioned "Save Me" from 1990, which I thought was a much better song than "As Long As You Follow" was, but clearly FM had lost their edge by that point.

That's one of the most surprising decisions AT40 made to answer the question about albums with 4 top 40 hits on the 6/5/82 show. They obviously look at the Hot 100 and had to have known that the answer could change in a week or 2. The next week it did with 2 more albums being added to this list courtesy of debut records by Stevie Nicks and Journey.
BTW, to those who think this is just an AC show with a fancy name, you might want to consider that according to Casey, there are 10 ballads in it. To compare, he said there were 13 ballads on the 5/31/80 and in something that caught me way off guard, Shadoe said there were 17....yes SEVENTEEN ballads in the 6/4/94 show.
