BTW, were there ever any other AT40 shows where back-to-back chart positions -- in this case, #5 and #4 -- were announced by the singers? You mean back-to-back jingles? 6/27/87 had four in a row: 14-13-12-11.

Yeah. Doesn't matter to me, if local Baltimore area ads are heard.

I appreciated that Premiere gave us the theme to end this week. With clever editing, it only had a few seconds to go after Larry's credits, but a great compromise and I hope the practice continues!

OK here's the Pump & Dump for 6/11/1988 First for two Rock songs 1. Robert Plant "Tall Cool One" (What I liked was the Zeppelin samples near the end) 2. The Church "Under The Milky Way" (didn't do as good as the other 3 Aussies INXS, Icehouse & Midnight Oil but was just as good) Now 2 Dance songs 1. Bardeux "When We Kiss" (I like their song "Magic Carpet Ride" better but this one wasn't bad) 2. J.J. Fad "Supersonic" (when I see garbage like Iggy Azalea go to #1 it's a shame this only made #30) Now the dump This week the dump is going to Premiere not for the songs but because if I'm hearing a show from June 1988 I don't want to hear extras from February 1989. If you want to play songs from 1989 play the G*d D**n Shadoe shows or get Casey's Top 40 don't stick them in a show from 8 months earlier. The only thing worse is IHeart's fast tracks instead of 1/2 the song how about none of the song.

Because "Tall Cool One" is underlined on the Watermark cue sheet from that week, I'm thinking that THIS was the week that he did that. Now, I just hope KGOR does the sensible thing and plays the 6/11/88 show. The last time that '88 was offered by Premiere as an option, at the beginning of May, KGOR went with the other and played 5/10/80 instead. Rick in Omaha, Nebraska

Predictions for the stations with a history of playing the "B" shows: SWR - 1988. 4 bands from Sydney on the chart. KOLA,KOOL - one will play 1982, one won't. One or the other plays the "B" show 75% of the time, but less than 20% do both play "B" show on same weekend. KOKZ - 1982. Just can't imagining them playing "Supersonic". KGOR - 1982. The iheart station goes off the reservation once again by opting for the "B" show the 4th straight time. KCCL - 1983. Has not been consistent since April. WMGN - 1988. Consistently goes with the late '80 shows. WTIC - 1988. Clearly not a fan of 1982. WEZG - both shows. Looks like another 4-show weekend. WTOJ - With one less hour this time around(no 1979 show), do they go with all four shows? 60% chance. Ideal scenario: WEZG WTOJ ==== ==== 1988 2pm Fri 3pm Sat 1982 9pm Sun 10am Sat 1971 9am Sat 3pm Sun 1976 6pm Sun 9am Sun

I am also a KGOR listener ! Don't get your hopes up because they will likely go with the 82 show than the 88 show. Notice in the past few months they LOVE 1984 and hate 1985 and 1988 for some reason! Thank God for TUNE IN!

Not sure how I didn't see this one coming--6/11/88 was one of the shows I had down on my list...probably because it seemed like it's a week too early?

Last time I tuned into them (which was quite a while ago) they only aired 3 hours and didn't play any extras...they have very good audio though.

They only offer the 3 hour show most likely the 80s version. The last time we had a 70s show was a year ago (6-2-79) show. I wish they could be like KOKZ where you get a 70s on saturday morning and a four hour 80's show on sunday morning starting an hour early! We don't get any extras with our 3 hour 80's version!

The well-known artist with lots of top 40 hits, but this one fell short, could be several choices aside from just Fleetwood Mac (which had one of the higher non-top 40 charters with "As Long As You Follow," peaking at No. 43). A few other possibilities -- with the first of these coming from the Dec. 24, 1988 chart: * "Wild Again" -- Starship. (No. 73 peak.) * "Killing Me Softly" -- Al B. Sure. (No. 80 peak.) * "Nobody's Perfect" -- Mike + the Mechanics. (Since their next song, "The Living Years," went to No. 1. This one stopped at No. 63.) * "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble" -- DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. (No. 57 peak.) * "Hippy Hippy Shake" -- The Georgia Satellites. (No. 45 peak.) * "Handle With Care" -- The Traveling Wilburys. Lots of well-knowns here, including Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. (No. 45 peak.) * "Baby Can I Hold You" -- Tracy Chapman. (No. 48 peak.) From the Feb. 4, 1989 chart -- the last week to consider: * "Baby Can I Hold You" -- Huey Lewis and the News. (No. 47 peak.) * "Tell Her" -- Kenny Loggins. (No. 76 peak, debuted on Feb. 4.) * "Got It Made" -- Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. (No. 69 peak, also a Feb. 4 debut.) So, really a toss-up for me. However, I'm going to guess it will be a song that is not by Fleetwood Mac. Other picks: Top 15 hit: "Holding On" -- Steve Winwood. Top 5 hits -- ergo, for me at least, both No. 1s: * "My Perogative" -- Bobby Brown. * "Two Hearts" -- Phil Collins. Brian Not quite following the logic in your post in regard to the curveball extra...why would you guess against Fleetwood Mac? Not saying it will be that song, but which one better fits the clue than "As Long as You Follow" does? As for all the examples you list, the ONLY one that would make any real sense is Huey Lewis & the News with "Give Me the Keys". Of the others, most had only one or a handful of top 40 hits (not many hits as Mike said), and the others, such as the Kenny Loggins, Starship and CS&N cuts are songs that nobody today would remember (heck the Starship cut didn't even make their first Greatest Hits album). As for the Traveling Wilburys, each of them had a number of hits as solo artists or with another group, but the clue seemed to indicate that the "act" of that song had a number of other hits--the Wilburys had zero top 40s.

I have 3 questions 1. Since we'll never hear the 1/12/80 show guest hosted by Mike Cleary did Premiere ever use "Rappers Delight" as an extra in a 1979 or 1980 show 2. It's only been a year but do you think they'll offer the tribute show from last year as an "A" or "B" show or a bonus this father's day weekend 3. Finally, on Soundcloud I found a guy who compared from #40-#1 the 1st show in 1970 to the last show in 2004. My question is it was introduced as a Premiere networks present the last AT40 from 2003 when did they air this & if they would replay it which stations would air it because it sure doesn't fit any station 70's or 80's format
