I'm going to try one more time at WKIX, this time with the webmaster (who won't see my question till at least Monday), and if they don't get back to me, I'm going to conclude that either (1) the person to whom Premiere sends the cue sheets no longer works for the station (or its parent company), meaning the sheets went into "the bit bucket", or (2) Premiere stopped sending them, and we can guess the reasons. dL The cue sheets aren't sent to anyone specific- they simply are available as a PDF download next to the show files. My guess is someone at WKIX just isn't uploading those PDF's to the website Thanks for the clear-up, Brett. Edit: Well, he was spot on... the webmaster got back to me Sunday afternoon, but... "Due to a reduction in staff we are no longer able to provide that service."dL

I liked hearing the question about the most number one singles without a number one album on the 2/12/83 show. I get a chuckle out of it when Casey said Michael Jackson was one. "Thriller" would be number one in two weeks. I liked that too. If only Casey had known he would have 10 more #1's & his next 3 or was it 4 albums would be #1 (I'm also surprised Off The Wall didn't go #1) Also did you notice the last 83 show aired 1/15 that all 4 extras were in this weeks show.

Why do so many folks drop the 1st r in 'February'? That ad about 'Fabuary' should be 'FabRuary'.

Oh, wow. Well once again, I'm shocked as at least one station will play 2/16/80, never thought KOLA 99.9 out of Redlands, CA, would air it as their new format better suits 2/16/85, idiots! www.kolafm.com/amp-events/casey-kasem-the-80s-5/Casey Kasem: The 80’s This Saturday, Casey will feature the American Top 40 (Chart Date February 16, 1980). I wonder at a lot of these stations if the PD is too busy to worry about weekend programming (especially early morning) so they turn it over to some part time associate PD/ intern and they are like "Michael Jackson was #1, keeewl, let's play that one". Except MJ wasn't on top of the 2/16/80 show; he was displaced by Captain & Tennille with "Do That To Me One More Time". As such, I doubt current associate PDs or interns would have chosen it on that particular basis.

^Of course it was Captain & Tennille at #1 this weekend in 1980...which should make those associate PD/intern folks avoid that show like the plague.

Maybe it's just me, but I have to think that associating A/B show airing choices with associate PD/interns wanting to hear such-and-such at #1...to even think that they'd be checking who's #1 that week, would be to give most of them too much credit.

I'll start by asking if it's good to mention the WBME site. Anyway when listening in between shows they mention about Casey not being in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. If this is true they should fix this mistake this year.

Naw, it's unlikely that associate program directors or interns are making weekend programming decisions. It's probably the program director, in the very least, who is making that decision without consultation from anyone (except his boss(es)), and the younger folks are probably responsible for filling in hours of the day. The program director is trying to create a sound for his station. Or shadowing (no, not Shadoe -- shadow, as in job shadow). Brian

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess: 2/20/82 2nd Guess: 2/18/84
If it's 1982, there's a possibility that Premiere would also offer a 'B' show, which I'm guessing might be 2/20/88? We'll have to see if they offer a second show with 1982, since '82 has yet to be aired this year.

I'm having trouble coming up with an alternative to 2/20/82 as an "A" show; it's a repeat, but from a long time ago (only played once, in 2008). It seems rather soon to play 1984 again just four weeks after the last show from that year. 2/22/86 would also make sense, as the last 1986 show was played a week before the last 1984, and that particular countdown was last aired five years ago. Another show last played in 2010, 2/28/81, would fit the following week well (probably coupled with something else), as we haven't had a 1981 "A" countdown yet in 2015.

This week's extras are:
"Rhythm Of The Night" - DeBarge "One More Night" - Phil Collins "I'm On Fire" - Bruce Springsteen "Radioactive" - The Firm
Everyone guessed Phil Collins and Bruce, but only briguy, seminolefan, and kchkwong also guessed DeBarge. No one saw this week's curveball, The Firm, coming though (curveball as in the lone Top 40 hit of the four that didn't also go at least Top 10).
