Wow, once again 1980&1981 are the 'B' option.. I really feel sorry for those that don't have internet streaming&the station they listen to always plays the 'A' options. They may never get to hear the early 80s years again.

Oh, wow. Well once again, I'm shocked as at least one station will play 2/16/80, never thought KOLA 99.9 out of Redlands, CA, would air it as their new format better suits 2/16/85, idiots! www.kolafm.com/amp-events/casey-kasem-the-80s-5/Casey Kasem: The 80’s This Saturday, Casey will feature the American Top 40 (Chart Date February 16, 1980). They did choose 1981 over 1987 last week, so not that surprising. Maybe they should be considered a "go-to" station for early 80s shows when they are the B choices. I'm not sure about the "new format", but the station website says "70s 80s 90s" across the top so any 80s show would probably fit equally well, and they still do play the 70s countdowns.

Of course, they did just choose 86 over 80 last month, even when saying they'd air 80...so, choosing 80 over 85 now (assuming this isn't another lie), is certainly a head-scratcher.

I'm going to try one more time at WKIX, this time with the webmaster (who won't see my question till at least Monday), and if they don't get back to me, I'm going to conclude that either (1) the person to whom Premiere sends the cue sheets no longer works for the station (or its parent company), meaning the sheets went into "the bit bucket", or (2) Premiere stopped sending them, and we can guess the reasons.

I kind of have a feeling that Premiere is doing with the 1980-81 shows something like they did for the Flashback series and instead of eliminating them completely, they're using them only for twofer weekends and always as the B-show. In other words, we should probably not expect any new shows (since the B-show is almost always a repeat), unless we find out otherwise. It's pretty much wait and see at this point - it's hard to speculate much this early in the year.
If 1982 is one of the two-fer years, then it's entirely possible that they'll do a twofer for the year-ender and offer both 1982 and 1986.

My guess is someone at WKIX just isn't uploading those PDF's to the website

It'd be nice to hear some ads for MALE-oriented products. It's NOT just women who listen to these broadcasts.

This might be an overreaction, at least as far as 1980 is concerned. To start this year, the earliest show from 1980 that has yet to air is the March 8 show. Of the 80s, only 1988 has a later such start point in its year, that being the April 2 show. All the other years had at least one January or February show yet to air. Granted, they've skipped the first two unaired 1981 shows - but all things considered, 1981 has, for the most part, been something of a step-child in the 80s series, so skimping on 81 is nothing we haven't seen before. Having said that now though, last year was actually pretty good to 81 - six shows aired, not including Part Two of the YE countdown. Currently, I don't know any further than everyone else. But I'm not convinced that we're seeing a phasing out of 1980-81. That would also be particularly suspect if they were, considering the 70s haven't been doing that with any part of the decade (bar maybe 1970, which they only have for the second half of the year anyway).

One ad we don't need to hear IMO is Pat Boone pitching some right wing screed called "The Great Withdrawal", which was advertised at least on WLXT (not sure if it's a general Premiere ad.) I'd rather hear Dr. Janet Lehman telling the story of Jeremy's outburst and Total Transformation for the billionth time.

It could be worse for a change Sunday/Monday at Midnight eastern on Magic 95.9 WPNC I've been listening to the Rick Dees the 80's shows. One of the ads is a current day Rick for a online dating site.

Not this week's show, but last week this year was the "B" show. 2/7/81 starts out after the top 3 recap with these artists...AC/DC, Blues Brothers, Donnie Iris, Randy Meisner, Kenny Rogers, Heart, Police, Michael Stanley Band, Bruce Springsteen, Andy Gibb, Pat Benatar and Alan Parsons Project. No LDDs or archive song in that stretch. That is a most unusual string of rock songs in an AC heavy year. Kenny Rogers has the only ballad and Andy Gibb is in but with his most rocking song he ever released with "Time is Time".

I liked hearing the question about the most number one singles without a number one album on the 2/12/83 show. I get a chuckle out of it when Casey said Michael Jackson was one. "Thriller" would be number one in two weeks.
