I think we will get the 1/31/87 and one of the two eligible January 1988 shows in the coming weeks. As for the other January show, I will guess that we get 1/24/81. Though 1/23/82 certainly wouldn't be out of the question. When did Shannon Lynn say CT40 was not cleared for broadcast? Last I read on this forum, all of them were not remastered yet. I also remember reading that Premiere already owned the rights to Casey's Top 40 and of course they own the shows after March 28, 1998 when AT40 returned (they own the AT40 name). Does anyone know the latest on this or can provide a link? It has nothing to do with the condition of the shows, the majority are there and OK. It is the ownership issues, IIRC. He doesn't say much about it.

I ran numbers off my list and I am sure I don't have every single time listed for this but from 89-end of 99, I have 73 weeks which couldn't be aired due to a guest host or waiting to start the new AT40. And unlike the 80s version where its all in one place, there'd be holes everywhere on this one because he generally took the same weeks off each and every year. So it wouldn't just be an issue the first week or two of the heat, it'd be several places all year. Sorry, I just don't see it.

So it wouldn't just be an issue the first week or two of the heat, it'd be several places all year. Sorry, I just don't see it. I counted 85 guest hosted (mostly by Mark Elliot, David Perry, or Ed McMann) CT40s and AT40s from January 1989-December 1999, an average of nearly eight per year. I don't think that's a particularly big deal--Premiere or whoever could just play a Casey hosted show from the preceding or following week, and I don't think most listeners or affiliates would care too much about a minor deviation from a particular week calendar wise. For the first three years or so of their current 70s/80s AT40 series they often played shows originally broadcast several weeks before or after the corresponding calendar week (and why was a September 1974 show aired in February 2007?) But it appears that there are more substantive issues, such as show quality and possibly legal rights, preventing such shows from being aired, even if we assume that there's a decent demand for them which seems increasingly plausible as the 1990s move more into the nostalgia/"classic hits" realm.

The 90s were an unmitigated and total disaster for top 40 radio, and Hot AC & AC stations have the lion's share of 90s music in their libraries these days, so I doubt that even the tons of such-formatted stations which carry the 80s countdowns would risk doing so simply because many of those tunes just don't hold up.

What an unusual Friday afternoon--WWIS actually finished the countdown, extras and all, 10 minutes early!

Question for you: I also listen to Max FM (right now actually) and it's online on the TuneIn app. It's skips a whole lot during the broadcast and it seems to every week. Are you having that happen too?

I usually just listen to part of it because I hate that instead of the network extras they play their own.

Ever have one of those mornings when listening to Casey just isn't meant to be? Station #1, WIDL out of Caro, Michigan, has dropped AT40 - The 80s. Station #2, Hot 104.9 out of Gainseville, Florida, has AT40 - The 80s on at a new time. Station #3, WWOD out of New Hampshire, ended the first hour at 6:37 a.m and played the optional extra by Donna Summer... and then "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John & Kiki Dee... and then "Nothing From Nothing" by Billy Preston... and now "Runaway" by Bon Jovi. I wonder with the new year if we will get some scheduling changes.
