There were lots of songs to choose from this week in 1986. It wouldn't be quite as difficult if it were 1980 or 1981 when there are so few "playable" songs.

Great extras I will look forward to them this week!

In case this is relevant to anyone, there is an interruption in KCLH's Saturday morning 8/19 AT40 broadcast -- in the middle of song #5 there is a brief aborted test (I think) of the MN emergency alert system.

As always, my timing was impeccable--I tuned in right as John Mellencamp's song was fading out and the station went to a long commercial block--never fails.

Anyone else notice someone (possibly Casey himself) snapping their fingers during his tease at the end of the first hour?

I am hearing the song that was number 1 on Madonna's 28th birthday, 28 years ago today--and one of my personal favorites by her, "Papa Don't Preach." I enjoyed about two thirds of the song on the countdown, but I was 25 by the summer of 1986. My only regret is that she isn't on the Hot 100 on this, her 56th b-day. She should have teamed up with the 28-year-old Lady Ga Ga--that would be a cool duet.

In any case, happy birthday Madonna!!!! Hope your 56th is a good one. Wow Madonna is 56, I can't believe it. Casey mentioned Madonna as "new" in this countdown, that seems like a lifetime ago now.

I just checked the at40fan.info site for available shows... has anyone else noticed that there are only three unaired shows available for the month of September? The shows are 9/24/83, and two from 1986, 9/6/86 and 9/27/86. There are nine unaired October shows with one show available each year from 1980 thru 1985 plus 1987. November has eight available shows which could be aired for the first time, and if my math is correct, December has nine unaired shows (I'm excluding the first half of the Hot 100 of 1982 countdown here). Wow! And since they did 1986 this week, I doubt that we'll hear either of the two shows from that month. We might hear the 1983 show, but other than that, we'll likely be hearing many repeats next month.

There could be only one repeat if they pull a 1984 and run both 1986 shows, LOL!
I guess 9/27/86 would be a possibility. For some reason, I keep thinking that it's late August instead of mid. But yeah, 9/24/83 would be good for the week of 9/20 and for 9/27, the same date in 1986. I think that one of the repeats will be 1980, and, of course, there would be only one possibility if they do indeed go with the two above shows - that would be 9/13, which was last done in 2009 (moreover, the 9/20/80 show was done just two years ago, so it would be a little too soon for that one). If 1985 and 1981 are indeed on deck to round out August, then 1987 would be the logical choice if not for the fact that the 9/5/87 show was run just last year. That leaves 1982 and 1984. IMO, the latter is more likely. We'll probably hear 1982 sometime in October - hopefully, October 16, since that show has yet to be aired by Premiere.

I think 8/23/80 could be doable for next week's show since it hasn't aired yet although we did have a 1980 show last month. Strange things have happened... we'll see though

Does anyone have a cue sheet for the 8-26-86 show?
