Premiere has edited out number jingles - most likely on seldom occasions. When Premiere aired the November 26, 1983 broadcast back in 2013, I could of sworn the #24 jingle leading into "In a Big Country" by Big Country was edited out. The original broadcast, however, did have that jingle intact.

Heard the elusive #39 on the AT40 I was listening to today from 5-15-99. It was between #40 B*witched - C'est La Vie and #39 Orgy with the remake of New Order's "Blue Monday". I did like this era's number jingles quite a bit. I'll upload it here later if you guys want and that's not against the rules. Here's the jingle: link

Bumping this thread for a good reason... I discovered there is another episode with the rarely heard #39 jingle: June 30, 1984.If my math is correct, there were two episodes in 1984 that used the #39 jingle. I wonder if 1984 may be in the running for having the most #39 jingles used in a single calendar year? We can add 11/10/1984 to that list.

There's one in the 9/4/82 show before "Gloria."

Okay, here's a list of the shows with the #39 jingle, all in one place - I'll break them down by decade (* indicates no #40 jingle played): 1970s (5):1970-07-04 (debut show) 1971-06-19 1971-11-06 (Dave Hull - first AT40 guest-host) 1979-02-24 1979-05-05* 1980s (10):1980-05-10* 1980-11-08 1982-09-04 1982-09-25 1984-06-23* 1984-06-30 1984-11-10 1985-12-14 1986-05-17 1986-07-04 (Giants Of Rock & Roll Special) 1990s (2):1990-08-04 (AT40) 1999-05-15 2000s (1):2001-07-14 (#40, #39, #38 all played) As of now, 1984 is in the lead with 3 shows to feature the #39 jingle. For shows prior to 5/8/1971, I'm listing the show date instead of the chart date. As I go through the shows I have, I'll add them to the list. Anyone feel free to add, and I'll update accordingly. Thanks. ETA: I'm excluding year-end shows from this list, as we're more likely to hear a #39 jingle on those shows.

Bumping this one up since this weekend's 80s show is one of these. Haven't updated this in a long time. If time permits, later this month.
ETA: For any show dates that AT40 and CT40 have in common (1/21/1989 to 1/28/1995), I'll note afterward. So far there's only one.

ETA: I'm excluding year-end shows from this list, as we're more likely to hear a #39 jingle on those shows. ...you might think so? But in fact, no: I know of only two year-end shows that have it, 1979 and 1993. (Disclaimer: I have no idea of 1970-78.)

I believe you will find the #39 jingle in the 11/6/71 show with guest host Dave Hull. It was used to bring in "Got to be There" by Michael Jackson. Yep, just heard this. Listening to that show this morning. 🙂

Regarding the #39 jingle used from January 1984 through early February 1989, was there ever any "soft" #39 jingle used at all during that period?
I do know a "soft" #39 jingle was heard on August 4, 1990 leading into "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips, which was in its final week on AT40 then.

Wasn't there a thread where someone started a spreadsheet, show by show, with all the jingles that also indicated uptempo and softer jingles?
