Lovin' this '72 show... Listened to it last night on White Squirrel....now listening down under. Hour 2 on KLFM was the Larry Knechtel hour. Knechtel,a member of Bread, was heard on Sweet Surrender. He also played the piano on the Johnny Rivers song and after that KLFM played their own extra. That was Guitar Man by Bread in which Knechtel is playing the guitar behind David Gates' vocals. Also from that hour, Neil Diamond's "Walk on Water" may have Knechtel on keyboards (the album has no musician credits, but in interviews Knechtel mentioned playing on it).

The 12.02.72 show also features a Chicago song I never hear on classic stations - Dialogue. Always liked Dialogue and the back and forth vocals of Terry Kath and Peter Cetera.

Even a December '72 show with a lot of '73 hits on it? Not doubting you, just guessing that there will be fewer 'no-plays' for this one than for the '70 show a couple of weeks ago. As expected Hoggy providing great alternative programming, this week 12/6/75!! 69.8.162.164:8000/hog.aac.m3uAs always, thanks for the 'heads-up'! A chart with a lot of movement: Four songs that climbed ten 'notches' or more, and six that fell ten or more.

Hoggy aside, I'm going to guess that the last two shows of the year are 12/17/77 (never played by Premiere) and 12/20/75 (last done in 2011.)
Thought process of elimination: it's been said on here no more 1971 or four hour 70s shows (1978-79) this year. 1972 and 1973 are of course done in the first two weekends of December, and 1970 and 1976 were just played in the last month, and mid-to-late December shows from those years were aired in just the last two years. The only other countdown I can think of that doesn't have any of these issues is 12/14/74, which could be played the weekend of Dec. 15-16, but why play that when there's a show that's never been aired from a year that hasn't been featured since mid-September?

I am guessing the first 1971 AT40: The 70's show for 2019 will be 1/16/1971 airing the weekend of January 12-13, 2019 (with B show option).

Dialogue and Another Rainy Day in New York City are two of my favorites that didn't make it to the Top 20. Unrelated, did Billy differentiate the A and B shows for next weekend? CKWW always goes with the A show, so I am sure hoping it is 12-8-73.

I’m in the mood for a country sweep when it comes to extra predictions:
* “A Love Song” — Anne Murray. About to break on both country and pop radio. * “Let Me Be There” — Olivia Newton-John. Reaching its country chart peak (No. 7), now about to embark on its pop chart top 10-bound run ... long before “Physical.” * “I Love” — Tom T. Hall. Was just starting a 16-week chart run on the Hot 100, in which “The Storyteller” would eventually reach No. 12 and his only top 40 pop hit.

Stations that have not 'gone Christmas' should be running the '73 show.

Thanks MGA! I am really looking forward to 12-8-73, and the rare appearances of Led Zepplin on the Top 40. I just finished listening to 1972, and chuckled when Casey said their prediction of Lobo at #1 was incorrect, and even funnier that the following week the Temptations would NOT be at 1 either! Anyone remember the ending of the 12-9-72 show, and Casey humbly admitting another incorrect guess?

He sounded embarrassed that the staff had started out their predictions 0 and 2. Believe they then went to 1 and 2, as I think they did correctly predict "Me and Mrs. Jones" for the following week.

CKWW always goes with the A show, so I am sure hoping it is 12-8-73. It was - interesting - the rule Chicago had about picking singles back in day of Chicago X. Since Robert Lamm wrote the first single - Another Rainy Day in New York City - someone else had to write the next single. Peter Cetera wrote the second single - If You Leave Me Now - so someone else had to write the 3rd single. James Pankow wrote the 3rd single - You Are On My Mind - which didn't make the Top 40. Meanwhile the excellent - Mama Mama - written by Peter Cetera got skipped over as a single because he had written If You Leave Me Now. I think Mama Mama would have been an upper Top 40 hit if it had been the 3rd single.

Frankly, I don’t know when the show last aired. If it is indeed a rerun of a show since 2009 or so, then yes I’d guess the extras will be the same. (So what were they anyway?) Brian

12/8/73 was aired in 2014, the only time it's been played before now. The optional extras then were:
Hour #1: "Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)" - Aretha Franklin Hour #2: "Let Me Be There" - Olivia Newton-John Hour #3: "Ramblin' Man" - Allman Brothers Band
"Ramblin' Man" was a bit of a curveball as it dropped out of the top 40 that week. The intros to the extras then were put together from old Casey clips, which lately we haven't heard for countdowns that far into the decade (mostly 1970-71 have used recycled or reconstructed Casey intros recently, especially when the extras are songs heard in the original shows.)
