I was looking at this week in all the years featured on AT40 the 70's, and arrived at 12-1-79. I noticed the all the Top 6 songs of the week were past, present or future #1s. Is this the only time in AT40's history this has happened? This just seems so wild that a song wasn't peaking that week at positions 2-6. It went even one better one time in 1974, near the start of the the 'revolving door' series of #1 songs that then fell totally out of the top 10 the following week. The top SEVEN songs were all past, present, or future #1s the week ending September 21, 1974 Furthermore, the #9 song in that week's Top 10 was also a future #1. That means only TWO songs in that Top 10 peaked below the top spot ("Clap For The Wolfman" and "Hang On In There Baby").

With 1972 outta some strike zones, look for stations like Hog to pull an alternative show out of the bin this weekend. So do you think that Premiere might start offering “B” (alternate) shoes in November and December, at least for 1970s affiliates? I’d just consider dropping the show myself, Brian

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 12/8/73 2nd Guess - 12/10/77
Guessing these are the next two years to be played, with the better odds of 1973 going next week. Wouldn't be out of the question for 1977 to go first either. The weekend of December 22-23 almost has to be 1975...

I thought it had been posted that we were to get a '71 show before the end of the year? One each from the years 1970 through 1977 is what I recall. And we've had a '75 show since then.

Well, then the chances for the new December 17, 1977 show are great! If 1975 is in the mix for December, then it would almost certainly be December 20, as the 13th was played last year. That show will probably be played the weekend of December 22-23, so that leaves 1977 to be featured on December 15-16, and December 17 would definitely be the show for that week. Looks like many of my predictions I made back in December (using both scenarios I created) were correct. To refresh your memory...
The first one was: 11/17/2018 - 11/13/1976 11/24/2018 - 11/21/1970 12/01/2018 - 12/01/1973 12/08/2018 - 12/11/1971 12/15/2018 - 12/17/1977 12/22/2018 - 12/20/1975 12/29/2018 - Part 1 of Top 80 of 1972
The second one was: 11/17/2018 - 11/13/1976 11/24/2018 - 11/27/1971 12/01/2018 - 12/02/1972 12/08/2018 - 12/08/1973 12/15/2018 - 12/17/1977 12/22/2018 - 12/19/1970 12/29/2018 - Part 1 of Top 80 of 1972
(Obviously, these were both made before I found out that they were done with 1971 this year - I apparently overlooked that post).

Lovin' this '72 show... Listened to it last night on White Squirrel....now listening down under. Hour 2 on KLFM was the Larry Knechtel hour. Knechtel,a member of Bread, was heard on Sweet Surrender. He also played the piano on the Johnny Rivers song and after that KLFM played their own extra. That was Guitar Man by Bread in which Knechtel is playing the guitar behind David Gates' vocals.

Actual optional extras: "Superstition" - Stevie Wonder "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" - James Taylor "Do It Again" - Steely Dan Someone goofed with the optional extras/placements. At the end of Hour 1 Larry leads into "Superstition" by saying "Before we hear the top 13" let's check out some of the tops of Billboard's other charts (Easy Listening and Country and Soul albums). Shouldn't this have been at the end of Hour 2?

Happy weekend all. Been away for awhile. As I sat and waited at noon time today for Casey's AT40 1972 show to start .For some reason 1220 WQUN AM Stereo did not run the show today. They did not even bother running the jazz syndi show that airs before AT40 at noon.At the time they were playing regular music mixed with Christmas music along with an Elton John music weekend theme.
Last weekends 1976 noon time show show got cut in the second hour with basketball. Their 1976 6am Sunday show did run on time.
I did not even bother to listen anymore then 90 minutes after 12 pm .So I have no idea if there was a game on today. They do these type of weekend themes every weekend.
We will see if the 6am Sunday morning 1972 show airs in the morning tomorrow.
