These early cue sheets with scrawled handwritten notes (from Casey? Don?) are interesting to read; they seem to have been for internal use, showing what needed to be fixed or where Casey or the production staff needed to “pick up” in the days of real time recording when mistakes meant lengthy re-recording. This one calls for “something in here somewhere” in the #13-9 range and looks like it’s using the word “Butt” with regard to “Stay Awhile” (I have no idea what it actually says or means.) Sorry, I don't mean to be a board-hog. But the AT40 production rundown sheets, where available, are quite telling. The June 5, 1971 post (http://charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/06-05-71.pdf) also contains the word "butt" which, I believe, referred to butting two audio pieces together -- a network commercial and a number jingle. Regarding handwritten comments, those were made during and after production, often by "Cap'n Billy" Hergonson. But the 6/5/71 sheets also contain a couple of "Romeo & Juliet" (last minute filler?) examples by Tom Rounds. Many thanks to Shannon for sharing them.

Hmm, I wonder if they'll still go with the June 23, 1979 show? (It is possible, though, since there were two 1979 shows played relatively close together earlier this year - in fact, I believe both gaps were five weeks). Even if they don't, this one is sort of new, as the only other time it was run was back in 2011, before they began offering the optional first hour.

Predicted extras — all four that don’t get that much oldies/classic hits airplay today by are still solid songs and were solid 40 years ago:
* “Sad Eyes” — Robert John. Brand new this week, first appearing at No. 85, and starting a long journey to No. 1. * “Does You Mama Know” — ABBA. * “Heart Of the Night” - Poco. * “Shine a Little Love” — Electric Light Orchestra. Highest debut of the week, entering at No. 57.

It's from Crosby Stills Nash and Young's live album Four Way Street which was the #1 album that week. (Incidentally, the cue sheet reveals that CSNY bumped the original planned extra "Jamie" by Eddie Holland).

Definitely two distinctly different songs.

Hi,Pete-Are the other two optional extras voiced by Casey or Larry Morgan? Hi Scott - The other two extras are voiced by Larry Morgan. In fact, he offers "topping the other charts" information for 5/15/71 while introducing the Carpenters.
