Who is the guy filling in for Rick?
Never mind, I got it. It’s Bruce Vidal.

The 80´s show is July 19, 1986 . Aired also last year. Its Bruce Vidal subhosting, 3rd week of July and it is Money$ too tight to mention, by Simply Red, the sure shot. There was one extra the last hour of the 80s show by Heart: If Looks Could Kill brfore #6. mitchm , I believe Jul 19, 1986 was last aired in 2012, and also Bruce Vidal was sub host. Jul 26, 1986 was last aired in 2011, not 2012.

I really enjoyed the 1999 show. As far as I can tell, the only artist on this show who's passed away is Rich Cronin from LFO and Whitney Houston. It's also nice that there was very little rap. The closest thing maybe LFO or Lady Saw. The oldest song, "Every Morning," was only around for 26 weeks, and it'd go on to become R&R's #1 song of the year. We got 2 song drops of The Carpenters. I can't even remember the last time Rick Dees or AT40 had 7 debuts. Like the 1986 show offered this week, it's one of the rare instances when none of the songs are holding. We got our first taste of The Bloodhound Gang when Rick played a drop of the #1 song in Germany, "Along Comes Mary." And the most chart-relevant artists today are Madonna ("Beautiful Stranger"/"Crave") and The Goo Goo Dolls ("Black Balloon"/"Slide"/"Miracle Pill") who are currently on the Hot AC chart.

Devin Lima from LFO, Left Eye from TLC, Stephen Gately from Boyzone and James Renald of Sky are also dead. As for rap? Will Smith was on the chart too.

I should've remembered Left Eye. Didn't know about the others. Thanks!

When was the last time a Bruce Vidal guest hosted show was aired before last week? I am glad they have started airing these shows again.

By the way, I will be on "vacation" next week and won't be making a post about what show KZOY is airing.

The Bruce Vidal show was really good. There’s an interesting article in the corresponding R&R issue about song lengths. Back in 1988, the average top 40 song was only 4 minutes 7 seconds. Today I imagine it’s under 3 minutes.
