KZOY is playing 07/27/85 this morning. The sure shot is "Freedom" by Wham. This show was last played last year and this is the 7th time it has played in retro-Dees.

the apps now updated: jul 27, 1985, jul 31, 1993, and jul 20, 2001 (wait, that can't be correct, can it?), because jul 14, 2001 was aired last week
1993 again?? Seriously??? I'm so sick of 1993!!

^It might be July 20, 2002. SS is Vanessa Carlton's "Ordinary Day" (which Wikipedia says was released in 2002).

Anyone know what the speedy CD challenge was in the 1985 show? Thanks.

Anyone know what the speedy CD challenge was in the 1985 show? Thanks. "Some Like It Hot" by The Power Station. Speaking of speedy CD challenges, in the July 2001 show aired last week with Britney Spears as co-host, they actually played the sped up song (Britney's "You Drive Me Crazy") at the correct speed as an extra near the end of the countdown, after two segments asking listeners to guess it. Could they have given it away any more clearly? The next shows up are OK, though they've been hitting 1993 pretty hard lately (second time in less than a month). The 7/27/85 show was one of those played routinely over several years, but Rick hasn't given us 1985 in a while so that's OK. The 2002 show is fine (wrong date on app aside); skip to the second segment and Rick says it's July 2002.

Thanks. Aside from the Sure Shot, the only other extra played in the 1985 show was “Crazy For You” between #27 and #26, which has been a standard slot to place the first Hour 2 extra in the last several years. Those who’ve died in the years since: Whitney Houston, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Pete Burns, Anita Pointer and Peter Thomas (voice heard in “19”).

Actually June Pointer has passed away; Anita is still alive, though reportedly due to health issues doesn’t perform regularly anymore. Current Pointer Sisters performances most often consist of Ruth with her daughter Issa and granddaughter Sadako Johnson (not sisters, but at least keeping it in the family.)

Forgive me if this has been brought up already: I've noticed that KDGL Eagle 106.9 in Palm Springs has been playing the 80s shows on Thursdays at 3 p.m. I listen terrestrially every so often. Only trouble is, they keep running the same show, using the 6/3/88 chart. The Sure Shot is "Roll with It," but then it kinda rolls downhill from there.

So the 6/11/1988 show would use the R&R chart dated 6/3; their issues came out on Fridays.

I'll bet anything rick.com features 6/21/86 next weekend which has been a repeat probably half a dozen times. Also happens to be the week AT40 is featuring next weekend. KZOY is playing 06/21/86 this morning. "Higher Love" by Steve Winwood is the sure shot. This is the 8th time this show has aired in retro-Dees. This show last aired last year. Sorry for posting late, I think it's actually 9th time Jun 21, 1986 played. Here: it played 6/26/10, 6/18/11, 6/22/13, 6/7/14, 6/6/15, 6/4/16, 6/3/17, 6/11/18, and 6/22/19.

So it's aired every year for seven years in a row? rick.com really needs to put more shows in rotation.

Also I think Jun 4, 1988 has been aired EVERY year starting with 2011 including this year, though 2017 and 2018 each played twice. It also aired in XM in 2008.
