Anyone want to make a bet that this weekend will be repeat from last year? 80s: Jul 4, 1987 90s Jul 3, 1993 d2K Jul 2008 special #1's part 1 If being wrong.. then please post those, thanks The apps say: 7/4/86 7/12/93 7/1/05 Actually it's 7/2/93. For some reason Rick's been listing Fridays instead of Saturdays as the dates lately. So we get July 5, 1986 (not one that gets constantly replayed, though 1986 is done to death overall) July 3, 1993 (think I've heard this before more than once, but I do like 1993) and July 2, 2005 (not much 2005 from him overall, so this is a nice choice.)

This is only the 4th show from 2005 and the earliest one so far.

Looking at my notes from when I listened to 07/02/2005 back in 2005, it is a "special" show where Rick plays all #1 hits.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 1986 show. It was a very active chart, since no songs held steady. The oldest song, "Something About You," had only been around for 15 weeks, which was normal for the '80s. As far as I can tell, the artists on the chart who've left us in the years since are Prince, George Michael and Robert Palmer.
Anyone know what the challenge answer is? Guess the voice from a TV clip.
Thanks

Jermaine Stewart and Gavin Christopher are also both dead.

KZOY is playing 06/11/88, I believe. "Roll With It' by Steve Winwood is the sure shot. This show is 2 weeks earlier than last week's show of 06/25/88. This show last aired on retro-Dees in 2013.

Edit: 06/25/88 was played 2 weeks ago, not last week.

This week's shows are June 11 1988, July 10 1999 and July 14 2001.

The only other time the 1988 show aired was in 2013.
The 1999 show has only aired once, on SiriusXM back in 2008 and I believe it is an All Request special.
The 2001 show aired last year and is co-hosted by Britney Spears.

These mostly aren't reruns (2001 is OK with me since those have only been replayed for a couple of years), but I'm not big on these particular selections. I tend to skip the "All Request" and similar specials unless they track fairly closely with what was on the chart that week, and shouldn't the 1988 show have been played a month ago? (Plus we get Casey from the same year this week.)

Rick thanked Donald Trump and his family for listening to the countdown.

It still blows my mind that Trump is President.
I’m enjoying the 2001 show more than I thought I would. Britney Spears is a good co-host. When she announced the Sure Shot was “Loverboy” by Mariah Carey, I couldn’t help but think of September 11th as that was the day the ”Glitter” soundrack album was released. Talk about bad luck. It was also the beginning of her breakdown.
