I wonder what year will be featured for the year end countdown next week or the week after? If pattern continues, it could be the year end for 2002 or 2003. I am hoping for 2003. Then again, 2007 wouldn't be bad either since we only got one show from late that year.

The 2000s show will of course be new, and I’d expect it to be something from 2001-03 or 2008-09. But I wouldn’t mind being wrong, and would listen to even one of the predicted D2K replays, as I haven’t heard them yet.

I've got printouts of the top songs on Rick's Year-end charts for the following years:
2000 - Top 100 2001 - Top 100 2002 - 100 2003 - 100 2004 - 50
I've also got printouts of 2013 - 2016, plus most of the 1980s and 1990s.

As Rick played the number one song in the 1987 show, George Michael's "Faith", I couldn't help but get sad as we're coming up on the one year anniversary of George's death .

I get the same feeling hearing Wham!'s "Last Christmas" (which gets replayed a lot every year.) Not only are the lyrics quite downbeat for a holiday song, but it was precisely last Christmas that George left us.

I was noticing the same thing. In fact, the show from 30 years ago this week had dead singers bookending the countdown. Natalie Cole at #40. In between, there was also Prince, Michael Hutchence, Michael Jackson, George Harrison and Whitney Houston.
1991 wasn't as bad. "Only" Prince, Michael Jackson and George Michael.

Yeah, it's eerie how many pop stars we grew up with are now dead. Everytime I hear "Last Christmas" I get really sad. George was so young. And now Last Christmas takes on a whole new meaning. It's one of the few Christmas songs I can actually stand and one that has been covered quite a lot (Taylor Swift, the Cast of Glee, Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood). I don't think George got the credit he deserved for being a good songwriter. People just saw him as a good looking guy writing bubblegum pop. OK, "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" is pretty cheesy but other than that he wrote fun catchy pop songs.

I have to say I liked the 1991 show. So many of those songs took me back to my junior year of high school.
I'm hoping this weekend's show is from 1990.

Shows are not updated yet on the apps.
This weekend 80s and 90s shows are these:
80s is December 17, 1988 SURE SHOT- SHE WANTS TO DANCE WITH ME - RICK ASTLEY
90s is December 18, 1993 SURE SHOT- I LOVE MUSIC - ROZALLA
Next week, week 17-52, both current CHR and HAC shows are the same and it is the Rick Dees Christmas Special, almost the same one of years ago, maybe 3 new Xmas songs compared to the last year show.
So that means, this week, 17-51, current shows, different for CHR and HAC, are the last regular shows, each one, for 2017.

I'm going to guess Dec 20, 2008CHR no surprise they skipped 2002 and went straight to 2008, smh
EDIT: Wait... I checked the rick dees proboards archive, and it seems that Dec 20/27, 2008 are having top 100 of 2008, so Dec 20, 2008 is part I top 100 of 2008. Could this be it?

They played 100 to 51 and didn't finish the following week? That's terrible scheduling.

It was a July 4th special in July 2017, they played part 1 and never did part 2.

They played 100 to 51 and didn't finish the following week? That's terrible scheduling. Yeah, frustrating too. That happened in 2002 with my local station. They aired the AT40 year-end part 1 (100-51), but aired a fan request program in AT40's slot the following weekend, so nobody heard the top 50. It wasn't until this time last year when I acquired the show, that I finally heard the top 50, 14 years later. (Of course, normalcy returned the first weekend of 2003, when the regular show aired.) Why air a show at all if you're not going to play the entire program? (Though I remember reading a post some months ago regarding the 1976 year-end and station contracts - since part 2 fell in the 1977 calendar year, those that didn't renew or something along those lines didn't air part 2.) If part of a program airs, I'd rather hear the final part. It's just odd to hear the first part and nothing else. It's like a movie that leaves all the viewers hanging.
