We all know that Casey has been doing the voice of Shaggy on Scooby Doo for many years. However, did you know that he was still doing the voice on shows that aired as recently as 2006?
My daughter loves Scooby Doo, so I have been reintroduced to the show. The next to latest incarnation of Scooby Doo was "What's New Scooby Doo", a series that ran 3 seasons, ending in 2005 (actually one aired in 2006). I believe the last Scooby Doo movie he was in aired in 2006. The new series, "Shaggy and Scooby Get a Clue" does not have Casey as Shaggy. (and neither I nor my daughter care for it either, for many reasons! :-) )

From what I heard, Casey was "relieved" of his Shaggy duties some time ago because the creators/producers of the show felt he was sounding too old. Long story short, he was reintroduced a short time later.
I also heard that on the newest series, he is now voicing a different character, an old rich uncle of Shaggy? I am not at all familiar with the series, I am just recounting what I have read online in the last few months. Anyone know more?

Just recently, I remember hearing somewhere that Casey's hiatus from voicing Shaggy had to do with vegeterianism. That Casey didn't want to continue the voicework as long as Shaggy wasn't a vegetarian. Apparently the shows creators didn't agree at the time and Casey stopped doing it.
He resumed doing voices for the show when they changed Shaggy's character from what I heard. Now apparently he doesn't eat meat. I don't remember the source and don't know if it's correct.

Yes, I knew that had happened a while back as well. But the situation I had mention was more recent, I believe.

In the latest Scooby Doo movie, at one point Shaggy is being a DJ on a "radio station" in the Himalayas. He asks Scooby, "Do you want to hear my radio voice?". At which point he switches to Casey's natural voice. I thought it was kinda neat. :-)

Now that would be a great film clip for my archive. What is the name of the movie and what cable station was carrying it? maybe Cartoon Network? I can add it to my collection of 1960s Casey commercials on KRLA (which I can't find at the moment!)

It was "Chill Out Scooby Doo!" and it aired on the Cartoon Network last week. It's on dvd now as well.
