I don't usually either, but my fiance recorded it on the Tivo. She wanted to see what people were wearing. Anyway, I found out yesterday that Dick was on, so I asked her not to delete the show til I saw that, which I did last night.

I worked Sunday night, but I had it taped for me since I am such a big Conan O'Brien fan and he was the host. I probably wont get the tape until Saturday. Has his condition improved at all since last New Years Eve?

Or does someone else use them now?

What do you expect from a man in his mid-seventies++ who had a stroke ? Since the recovery went so slow, it was clear he would never be the same again.
That's why we are so lucky and have to thank God every day that Casey is in good health condition and maybe has good gene for a long and healthy life.

Dick sounded quite a bit better than he did on New Year's Eve. I found everything he said to be intelligible, if slightly slurred. He made a joke about still being unable to walk, and USA Today noted that he broke down in tears after Barry Manilow came over and kissed him on the cheek. Tony Sirico of "The Sopranos" mentioned that a lot of the guys on his show grew up with Dick Clark on their TV screens (as did most of us) and praised his courage. The tribute was quite moving.

Or does someone else use them now? I have a DVR from my cable company. So I used Tivo as the "generic" -- like "Kleenex" is to tissues. But, so far as I know, the actual Tivo is still around. As for Dick, I thought he sounded quite a bit better than New Year's Eve. I do think that he's aged considerably physically. But I admire his determination and strength and hope he continues to recover as well as he has.

The real shame is that you can tell his mind is still working as well as it was, but the words just don't come out as well or as quickly as they used to. But I agree, big progress from his condition at NYRE.

Surprised no one has mentioned his condition on this year's New Year's Eve show. While I was comforted to see him back on TV--it isn't New Year's Eve without Dick, he definitely is NOT in great shape--but in a way it is very reassuring to just be able to hear his voice.

He's looking better. Do you remember in the reviews from last years show how most reviewers mentioned that he probably didn't have use of one arm, etc? You did notice how he/they went well out of their way this year to note the mobility in both arms whenever Dick was on camera.
Like Ryan Seacrest said in one of the preshow interviews, the desire to do the yearly show is probably some incentive to him to get better which is great.
One plus I will give Ryan whether he's responsible for it or not, the show also seems to be doing better at staying relevant to todays culture since they added Seacrest. The live musical guest in NYC is a great addition (now they just need to do the same for the west coast portion - what's up with the yearly fake pretaped party?) Either way, the fresh headlining acts mean that KC & The Sunshine Band just might be out of a New Years gig permanently and frankly it's about time.
I do wish that he would've been a little more involved this last year. I thought he was a little too involved the year prior, and he was better this year.
The ratings are also great from both previous years. Dick is still bringing in more than the other networks combined.
I wonder if anyone has thought of this... but when the inevitable happens and he is no longer hosting the show at all, and the torch is officially passed to Ryan and positioned even more for a young audience, it would be great if some cable network like VH1 or E! or someone could rerun prior years of Clark's show on New Years Eve like Premiere is rerunning AT40 Flashback... maybe mix the musical acts, and Clark highlights with some brief live footage from present-day Times Square...
From about 30 years of shows, there are plenty of moments to choose from to supply programming for an evening for cable.
