Last Wednesday, WDTW-106.7 here in Detroit made a format change. They officially stopped playing rock music and for a couple of days, they were playing a Jack-like music format, and they were letting the listeners decide to pick a new format for the station. I was hoping for the station to do a Top 40 format, similar to the late WDRQ, or a format that played Motown, Classic Soul, Disco, Funk, or to make a long story short, Jammin' Oldies format, similar to WGRV-105.1, another radio station that came and went in recent years. Well, by Friday, it was decided that 106.7 is now going to be playing country music. I had never realized that country music was huge here in Detroit. I wasn't too thrilled that they picked country music. Why did they have to pick a country music format? I have nothing against country, but WYCD wasn't good enough for you? you weren't satisfied with it, it wasn't enough for you? The timing of the switch to country music was an interesting one, considering that WYCD was sponsoring that Downtown Hoedown, which is the largest country music festival in the United States. Whatever.

All I can think of is how I wish I had a country music station to listen to. Consider yourself fortunate in that you have two.
