Hi guys, As those of you who are in the weekly chats know, in the last year I have moved quite a bit. I moved from Jacksonville to Orlando, then to Kissimmee for school, then to Dothan, AL last month.....well, unfortunately I have looked high and low for a job here and have found nothing .We are on the berge of losing everything left that we own. If it could go wrong over the last 14 months, it has. With that in mind, today I am moving back to Jacksonville. Hopefully I will be able to actually find a job there again and we will be able to get back on our feet. This has been the worst year of my life...period.

Hey Paul,
I haven't had the world's greatest year either - but I can't imagine going through what you have. I know you will pull through though, and hopefully the return to Jacksonville will bring you what you are looking for. God bless, and try to have a great holiday season!

Hey, Paul. So sorry to hear of the trying times you and your family are presently going through. I know how little regard you have for J'ville, so I can imagine how the pending move back is eating at your gut. Hopefully a job will come up and all your troubles will begin to disappear. My best to you and yours. On the subject of "what can go wrong will go wrong", we're still trying to recover from Hurricane Wilma down here, Christmas is approaching, and my car's transmission just gave up on me. But the Jags are having a decent year, the Gators trounced the 'Noles, and I just found out one of my LP's from the 90's just shot over the $100 value mark. ;D So, the bitter with the sweet, as they say.

As an update to my post on Monday, I have been back here in Jacksonville for 2 days and have been on 4 places to fill out apps, 1 I have already interviewed at, and I have one more app to fill out tomorrow morning, and then I go back to my old employer (Landstar) to take a test and interview there (thats one of the 4 apps I spoke of earlier. So, for all my dislike of Jacksonville it appears God opened the door for me to come back and apparently never should have left to begin with. In the last 15 months I have been away from here, I don't think I have had 5 employers combined call me.
I dont know if I will be in the chatroom tomorrow, or when I will be again for that matter. The inlaws dont have wifi in the house, so when I get a job and can afford it, I'll buy a router so my laptop will work on the internet again. Currently, I am at Barnes & Nobles in the cofee shop typing this.

Well, other than the fact I live in Jacksonville everything has definitely improved. On Tuesday afternoon (3 weeks after I returned here) my old company called me and hired me back. Yes, after 15 months, I finally have stable employment somewhere....same place I had it before. ;D
Plus, I was told on Tuesday I would be making more than I have ever made with the exception of a 6 month contracting job I had many years ago. Then, it got better, I got called on Wednesday and was given a substantial raise without even starting!! ;D
So all in all, everything has improved. Next step....move out of the inlaws house! After that, anyone in the area can come over and party on the intercoastal in our new apartment.....wherever over there it is.

Way to go Paul! Happy New Year, indeed! By the way, I love your nickname for Jacksonville, "Cowford". Seems more appropriate for my hometown, Palatka, though.
Pop in the All-Time Christmas Countdown show from 1973, if you have it, and enjoy your holiday.

Actually that isn't a nickname. It's the cities original name before someone came along and decided to rename it after Andrew Jackson. It was called that because the St. Johns River was so shallow that you could walk cows across it back in the day. And I guess when water is shallow it is called a "ford" or something like that. So that is where it's old name was derived from. Quit laughing at me, I am not drinking at 8:20AM!!!!!! I call it Cowford because the mentality and attitudes haven't changed since the 1800's so may as well not give it a new spiffy name either. Shhhh.....don't tell anyone here the North WON the civil war, it might incite a riot. When I have my communications degree we can interupt with a breaking news story on the TV to the people and let them know the outcome of the war.

If NFL Sunday Ticket becomes NFL Saturday Ticket this weekend (since so many of the games are tomorrow instead of Sunday) be sure to look for me at the Cleveland/Pittsburgh game tomorrow. 35 yd line, row 13. Whoo hoo!!! It would be a very Merry Christmas for us Clevelanders if we knocked those darn Steelers out of the playoffs tomorrow afternoon.

Yes NFL Sunday Ticket is airing the games tomorrow since that is when the majority of games air. However, the Jaguars will be losing to Houston at the same time so that is what I will be watching for the majority of the early time. But I'll check out the others to get a feel.

I hope you found something other than the game worthwhile. Its nowhere near over (on the clock anyway) yet, and this is one of the biggest buttkickings I have seen in awhile.

Just got back a little bit ago. We left after the 3rd quarter. Quite the butt kicking is right. 41-0 final. Not a Merry Christmas for us Clevelanders.
But...we had great seats, my dad's company moved a few weeks ago so I got to see his new office building, as well as spend the afternoon with him, which is something I am able to do far too seldom being off at college. So it was still a pleasant afternoon. We have some relatives coming over tonight as well, and then we will make the rounds tomorrow afternoon. So all is not lost.
