I don't know about anyone else, but I am really excited about Episode III coming out this week. More so than I have been for the previous 6 releases since I have been old enough to know what Star Wars was(Return of the Jedi 83, the Star Wars Special Editions, Episode 1 and 2). So, I was curious about when we would all be seeing it and seeing if the excitement is equal with others on the board.

Don't kill me, but I have never seen a Star Wars movie in 19 years of human existence. Supposedly, my girlfriend and her family are forcing me to see all 6 movies this summer - but are arguing in the order. Half of them want me to see it "the way the rest of the world saw it" by seeing the original 3, and then the 3 prequels. The other half say I should see Episode I & II, go to the theater to see III - and THEN see the original 3. Perhaps someone here could guide me in the right direction - and if you are like everyone I know you can slap me across the head for never seeing a Star Wars movie.

Assuming you don't know the general storyline, I'd suggest you see the original three movies first (Episodes IV-V-VI). There are certain things revealed in those films that would be a bit anticlimactic if you see the newer trilogy first. But then again, even someone who hasn't actually seen any of the "Star Wars" movies has probably been exposed enough through pop culture mentions that the revelations aren't a big surprise anymore.

I knew what Star Wars was, and one of my former stepfathers took me to see Return of the Jedi when it was originally released, but I had not seen either of the other two and really only knew the main characters. I had no idea though what the underlying story was in regards to it. It wasn't until I was...believe it or not, 19....that i bought the original trilogy on VHS (remember the commercials...The Original Star Wars Trilogy on video! One...Last...Time." And I have never seen any of them the day they came out. I saw Star Wars special edition like 2 weeks after it came out, and never saw Empire or Jedi SE's in the theatre. I saw Phantom Menace the Friday after it first came out, and Clones the Saturday afternoon after it came out (it was special double feature day for me, I also saw Spider-Man that morning). But for some reason, I am just overly excited for the release of this last one and I am going to see it on the first morning of it's release.

Got 3 1/2 star review in USA Today. The reviewer said it "may be the best movie in the series..."

Well its slightly later than I originally said, but I turned the last couple of days into a Star Wars Marathon. Again, I do not know why I was so struck with excitement about this movie coming out. I have seen the others when they came out, but I never felt compelled to go the day it was released or anything, and never felt some overwhelming excitement for it.
Anyway, yesterday I watched Episodes 1 & 2, and the clone wars vol. 1 DVD, this morning I went to Loews Cineplex @ Universal Studios (btw, the nicest theatre I have ever been to) and saw Episode 3. Rushed home and have just concluded watching the original trilogy.
I am not going to give anything away, I will just say of all 6 movies released in the series, THIS was BY FAR the best one! I give it 2 thumbs WAY THE HECK UP!

Sweeeet!! I like what you did, watching all the previous ones before going to see Epi 3. Seems to be the general opinion, about this being the best of the series. I'll have to drag my tail to the theatre to see it, then!!
I'm imagining a deluxe, limited edition DVD set of all 6 movies (with a 7th disc full of extras) that, when placed end to end form Darth Vader's helmet. Anybody else got any ideas?

Problem is, I dont know how many people would buy it. I say that because we now live in the DVD age and as long as the DVD's stay unharmed, the quality doesn't dissappear(unlike VHS copies of which I own the original trilogy and special edition). I already have Episodes 1, 2, and the original trilogy they released last year with a full DVD of extras. I would say the majority of Star Wars fans have those as well. There would simply be no need to buy a set of all 6 when we have all just in the last couple of years purchased the ones they have put out.
In saying this, I know there are some people who will buy anything with the logo "Star Wars" on it, but I think that is a small amount compared to the overall number who have purchased the already released 5.

Sweeeet!! I like what you did, watching all the previous ones before going to see Epi 3. I forget where it was, but there was an article in yesterday's newspaper about some movie theater somewhere doing a day-long marathon of all 6 movies, in order. Now that's a LOT of "Star Wars"!

Star Wars raked in $158.5 Million dollars nationally since it opened Thursday morning, add in the rest of the world and it becomes $303 Million. I am happy to say my whopping $6 was apart of that. ;D
