With two of my favorite shows having their last seasons released on DVD in the next two months ( Land of the Lost Season 3 comes out today, aSanford and Son Season 6 in Mid June) I was thinking, what shows would you like to see released on DVD thathave not yet. 2 of my other favorties have begun to be released or are about to be released....Dallas which is out, and He-Man which will begin in the summer.
Others I would like to see are:
You Can't Do That on Television Ultraman (the 30 minute REAL people show) Voltron (80's) Great Space Coaster
What about you guys? What ones do you want to see come out?

'WKRP' with the original music intact. The cartoon version of 'Planet of the Apes'. Hey, Paul, did you see that Will Ferrell is signed to star in the big-screen version of "Land of the Lost"? It's to be a "re-imagining" of the show, meaning the father and two kids aspect of the tv show will not be used.

I have heard and while I am not too high on the concept currently, if they do it right it could be pretty good.

While I doubt either of them will ever make it to DVD, I'd love to see "America's Top 10" and "Solid Gold" come out at some point.

While totally un-music related, I am excited for Season 4 of Seinfeld on May 17th. And the first season of Desperate Housewives this summer (my guilty pleasure)

Remember when VH1 began airing reruns of Solid Gold in the late 1990's? Given that it was the show that initially hooked me on the concept of music countdowns, I was thrilled to see it again. Then I was ticked that they only aired the same 20 episodes over and over for months before finally dropping it altogether.

I dont remember them airing Solid Gold, I remember reruns of American Bandstand though.
I meant in my original post to disqualify music related shows from a series point of view, because I am sure they would never sell. You might be abel to sell a "Great Performances on (insert music show here)" but not a complete yearly series.

That wasnt VH-1, that was Dick Clark Productions, and I remember it being done in exactly the same style as the 30 minute Blooper shows which had been cut from an hour down to a half hour were done.

Actually, in the case of "Solid Gold," that WAS VH-1 doing the cutting. And man was that annoying. It was basically just a focus on the dancers (not that that was a bad thing...<g>) and the top 10 countdown. Most of the host intros were cut out, and many of the performances. And certainly all of the comedy performances bit the dust. And, yes...they aired about 20 episodes a gazillion times each and then...caput.

when were these re-runs of Solid Gold aired? Does that show or Soul Train still exist in syndication somewhere? or are they long gone?

I think "Soul Train" is still in production, but "Solid Gold" ended its original run around 1988 or so.
I don't remember the exact year (sometime between 1998 and 2001), but "Solid Gold" ran on VH-1 around the same period as "Bandstand". I think it was after they dropped "Solid Gold" that they began airing "Bandstand" (or the other way around).

I remember Bandstand started on VH-1 I want to say January 1 1996 with a marathon or something. I know it was on in 1996 anyway.

Your dates on SG are what I remember as well. Don't think either show airs anywhere at the moment...but certainly not on VH-1.
