In the new R&R issue, there's a column on Oldies, which doesn't happen very often. The column talks all about oldies station WEBG/Miami...but guess what? After the paper was printed...WEBG went all-Spanish! Rob

thats awesome. ;D
Actually it seems like 50's/60's oldies may be becoming a thing of the past now. The long time oldies station in Jacksonville 96.9 Cool FM has changed to a greatest hits of the 70's/80's station. I guess actually, those probably ARE considered the oldies now.

Yeah, I figure that maybe more "Nostalgia" stations are going to pop up. Those will be the ones that play music of the 50s and 60s now (as opposed to "Big Band" music, which had been played on "Nostalgia" stations before).
Of course, this is just speculation.

Well, the thought struck me just this weekend while listening to Backtrax USA 90's... they played a song from early 90's... and I thought to myself... and Kid Kelly said something like 14 years ago.... and I thought to myself - 14 years!?? Just like yesterday.... Oldies used to be 60's and 70's... because 14(!) years ago (in the 90's) more than 20 years has passed since those songs (from 60's and 70's) were hot on the charts, so I guess it seems more and more that 80's soon are to be considered oldies - and not really retro anymore...! (...and I think we're all getting a bit older )

what's really depressing is the slow moving sucky charts have been around for over 10 years now. A whole generation has pretty much grown up not knowing what good radio was.
