WLHT in Grand Rapids, Michigan also flipped to all Xmas. They switched on Halloween Day due to another AC station in the Grand Rapids market flipping to all Xmas. They figured, if they switched, we had to switch also. Thus, No Casey and AT10 on WLHT on 11/2/08. There was an interesting article from the Grand Rapids press on the all Xmas switch. www.mlive.com/grpress/entertainment/index.ssf/2008/10/radio_stations_find_halloween.htmlThe biggest surprise was WNIC. They have not yet flipped to all Xmas yet. This was the first time the normal American Top 10 with Casey Kasem aired in November on WNIC. It did air on 11/2/08. Usually, by the first weekend of November, WNIC would have flipped. However, there were promos during AT10 on WNIC that all Xmas was coming soon.

Not really sure when KQIS, the station around where I live that carries AT10, will start their Christmas music thing.
If I remember though, they would usually start the week or the weekend of Thanksgiving.

I don't know if Now 97.5 in Philadelphia carries AT10, but when I was there this weekend I noticed that the round-the-clock holiday music has already started. Their reason was that since the Phillies won the World Series, Christmas came early this year!

Supposedly,WLTW-FM ("Lite 106.7") in New York City has already started playing Christmas music-They air the abbreviated version of "AT10" on Sunday mornings.

WNIC decided to start Xmas music even earlier this year. It happend on 4/26/09. WNIC aired a portion of the AT10 Xmas rerun show. It happen between 7:35 am to 7:55 am on 4/26/09.
Actually, this falls under "How to mess up downloading a radio show for your automated jukebox."
At 7am on 4/26/09, WNIC started AT10 as normal. However, I knew WNIC had the wrong show, since Casey Kasem started talking. I knew Mike Kasem was guest hosting this week. Just as Casey was going to announce the top 3 from last week, the audio from AT10 was turned off on WNIC. WNIC stayed dead air (silent) for 15 minutes. At 7:15, a few local ads were aired. Then AT10 returned on WNIC. However, it was Casey instead of Mike talking. Casey introduced the #9 song, CRAZY - Gnarls Barkley. This song was on top of the charts in 2006. Thus, WNIC was airing a AT10 from about 2 1/2 or 3 years ago. It was funny to hear Casey say after an end of the AT10 extra a number one song 16 years ago from 1990.
A few more local ads were aired. Then the AT10 Xmas segment aired. The Xmas songs for sure that aired on WNIC were CAROLING CAROLING, SANTA BABY, JINGLE BELLS, and FELIZ NAVIDAD. Casey talked about how people celebrate Xmas around the world, as you would expect to hear during the AT10 Xmas rerun show.
After 7:55 I was in Church. I wasn't able to check WNIC until 9:30. By then WNIC gave up on AT10 and just played regular music.
The playlist from yes.com had a song at 7:04 that did not air on WNIC. It was still dead air time. Besides, I don't think any radio station would play that song.
The playlist form yes.com from 7:19 to 7:32 was the AT10 2006 show. The AT10 Xmas show songs did not appear on the playlist. Looking at the playlist from 7:55 onward WNIC just aired regular music.
It appears the person at WNIC who downloads radio shows, doesn't bother checking to see if the right show was downloaded.

Lawrence J.Peter is the author of a best selling book from back in the 70's called "The Peter Principle"-I remember that quote from a sociology course I took in college.

This is not really of much concern anymore, but I decided to dredge it up anyway since I just read on XMfan.com that a station has already flipped to the All Christman format in South Bend, Indiana. Well, at least we really don't have to worry about missing a weekly countdown show anymore.

actually we do. once WLIF switches to xmas, no more AT40 the 70s in baltimore I meant weekly as in a current hits show. While the 70s and 80s shows being pre-empted can be a pain, I find it a lot less so than when the current ones were.
