You know what, I just now noticed what you said Radioman, did the number of affiliates really grow in 2006? How many new stations are there?

WNIC had Xmas in July this weekend. They played Xmas music throughout this past weekend. They did not go all Xmas, and AT10 did air on WNIC this weekend. However, before you know it, the November all Xmas music will return. AT10 will be prempted in early November by most CC stations. Then, the AT10 Xmas 2004/2005 edits rerun shows will be back in late November and December. Yes, its only 3 1/4 months until Xmas at CC radio.

Great, so how long before AT10 starts producing Christmas shows for stations that air Christmas music for no reason in July?

Halloween has just ended. It means WNIC will flip to Xmas on 11/1/07. It has been officially announced WNIC will flip to all Xmas starting at 5 am on 11/1/07.
It means no first run AT10 on that station for 2 months, until the top 30 of 2007 airs just before New Years. It also means most of Clear Channel lite rock stations will flip to all Xmas in a few days. Thus, no AT40 the 80s on WRVF. No AT40 the 70s on KQQL. At least with the internet, there will be some non Clear Channel stations that will air Casey for the next two months. OZ FM will have AT20 during November and December.

According to yes.com, WNIC, for now at least, is airing Christmas music mixed in with the regular playlist.
As it's in the mid 50's, sunny, and the Halloween decorations are still in the storefronts here in Northwest PA, I am hardly ready for all of this.

mid 50's, I wish. It's still Hot AC style down here with temperatures in the 80's and 90's.
And lets face the facts with this AC flipping to all Chrismas music. As much as we hate it because the shows we like don't air (or in my case would hate it regardless because I don't celebrate the day), it is apparently pretty popular with most people who listen to those stations. If it weren't and people were tuning out in droves, the stations wouldn't flip to this format this soon, or at all.

The regular music must have ended at 5pm today on WNIC. Its all Xmas now. WHNN in Bay City, Michigan also flipped to all Xmas. Thus, no AT40 the 70s on WHNN on Sunday until the weekend after Xmas.
It won't be long the AT10 Xmas rerun shows will reappear. I can hear the phrase now.... "I'm Casey Kasem and you are listening to an American Top 10 Christmas."

How about my worst nightmare has begun. How's that? Well, it has happened again, WNIC has officially started playing Christmas music. I don't know what bothers me the most, WNIC playing all Christmas music in early November, or 5:00 sunsets. As for WNIC playing all Christmas music, this is ridiculous. I don't have a problem with them playing all Christmas music, however they don't need to be playing it now. I mean it's the first week of November for crying out loud, and I am not in the Christmas mood yet. We do have another holiday coming up soon, which is Thanksgiving. Did we all of a sudden just forget about Thanksgiving, and jumped straight into Christmas? If you want to play all Christmas, at least wait until after Thanksgiving, then you can be in the merriest mood all you want, but not now, it is too early.

With September ending soon, there will only be four AT10 shows left this year on some stations that carry AT10. After Halloween, most CC stations and some others will be going back to the all Xmas format again. Since the AT10 Xmas reruns show don't start until mid November, there will be no Casey at all for a few weeks.
It will be a challenge to find first run AT10 November shows again. It will also be more difficult to find AT40 the 70s and AT40 the 80s, since many stations that air those programs switch to all Xmas and prempt all non Xmas programming. Bah Hambug!
I do enjoy the Christmas season. I just hate these two month Christmas premptions.

There is always a chance with Clearchannel hemoraging money on radio advertising they are going to stop this, though I doubt it.

Does anyone play Casey's 1970s AT40 Christmas countdowns, as a sort of special presentation? Since they lasted three hours, they'd fit into an AT10 slot, and a lot of the songs on there are played nonstop by AC stations anyway in late November and December. (Don't know if this legally can be done, but it's a nice thought.)

How many of the AT10 Christmas shows exist? I assume they just rerun the same ones every year now.

How many of the AT10 Christmas shows exist? I assume they just rerun the same ones every year now. I think there are seven AT10 Xmas rerun shows. There are two shows for the top 60 Xmas songs countdown. There were four Xmas shows with no countdown from 2004 with edits in 2005 to fit the new format clock. Then the 2005 Xmas rerun "Christmas at the Movies," were clips from Xmas movies are inserted with the music. Of course, since AT10 had their Halloween spotlight this weekend, the regular AT10 will not air for the next 8 weeks on some Clear Channel stations. This is due to the all Xmas flip on November the 1st. The Xmas music must have been too much for Montreal's Q92. They dropped AT10 sometime this fall. When AT10 used to flip to all Xmas in November Q92 would not air that show and air alternative programming. I guess early December all Xmas AT10 was too much of a problem for Q92. Now Q92 just has a DJ playing regular AC music Sunday mornings.

The Xmas Madness has now started. KOSY in Utah flipped to all Xmas. They did not air AT10 on 11/1/08. Just Xmas music.
