This morning on AT10 when introing "Don't Stand So Close To Me" by The Police, Casey noted that it was the "original version". I was unaware of any other version of the song.... anyone know more?

There is a version called "Don't Stand So Close to Me '86". I think I remember seeing the video on MTV. It peaked at #46 in late 1986.

Not that it is a cover, but who can forget Sting singing "I Want My MTV" in the style of "Don't Stand So Close to Me" when be backed-up Dire Straits on "Money for Nothing"!

You're really dating some of us by not knowing the remake of this song. You're probably too young to remember the remake to Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4 while knowing the original. This also happened in 1986, peaking at #48 on BB.

Did Casey happen to mention the 1986 version of "Don't Stand So Close To Me" at any point? If so, that's probably why he referred to the featured song as the original version.
I didn't really like the new version. It did not do the song justice. Give me the original version any day, thank you.
