Well it's been almost a year, will be a year later in the month, since AT20 AC became American Top 10. What are your thoughts after a year?
Personally, I never got the AC show until this January, so I never really listened to AT20 AC except on rare occasions. I do like AT10 though, because I am not a huge fan of the new AC music, and the Spotlights and countless extras are fun to hear.
Although many stations dropped the show- how do you feel the show has gotten better or worse in the last year? What would you like to hear in the future?

I like the show being the Top 10 because the chart moves way to slow. I like the spotlight feature, I just wish they would spotlight a week in past years, like play the Top 10 from this week in (insert year here), they are running out of spotlight ideas. So I prefer the Top 10 format just using years once in awhile to give the writers time to think of something new.

I have enjoyed listening to AT10 for the past year. I really love the AT10 spotlight segment, plus the non-theme extras. Although the show is called American Top 10 and counting down the Top 10 hit on the Adult Contemporary charts, the show is dominated by extras. It took me weeks to get adjusted to this new show, but in time, I really started to love it. I love the variety of music that is played on AT10, with a combination of Top 10 AC hits, the AT40 spotlight, and the non-theme extras. It's like AT10 has become its own radio station. My only dislikes of the show is that they don't air more than one long distance dedication on the show, and that my local AT10 affiliate, WNIC-100.3 FM, moved the show to 6am, which means I have to listen to the show while I am sleeping and more often than not, I don't get to listen to every song that is played on the show. I liked it better when the show was on at 8am, and I couldn't go back to sleep when the show would come on. Anyway, I just want to say that I love listening to AT10, and will continue to listen to the show for years to come.

I preferred the top 20. If they're going to do only top ten, they should cut it back to 2 hours. It might as well not even be a countdown anymore, the actual "current" songs are so spread out in the show they totally get lost in the mess of random old songs.

When they were both Top 20's I thought the same thing too Jeffster. It took me awhile to adjust to 3 hours, Top 20 Countdown, but now that it is pretty much the standard for me being those are the primary charts I listen to now, I have gotten used to it. On AT10 they air 1 current numbered song per segment.

I like the AT 10 format. Since the AC chart is so incredibly snail-paced, I wouldn't even mind if they'd do some non-countdown specials from time to time -- like the ones they did in November and December.

On AT10 they air 1 current numbered song per segment. With the exception of late of the third segment of hour #1, which features #8 and #7.

At first, I liked the show after it was cut back, because it seemed that they played a good selection of "other" songs. However, after a few months, they started repeating songs. I thought it was interesting that Casey reached all the way back into the 60s for AT10 Archive songs, until I realized that he only has about ten different songs that he plays from that decade. The AT10 Spotlight is pretty cool, although, as Paul stated, they're running out of ideas, since they repeated a theme, which was duets, a few weeks back. His suggestion of the top ten from this week back in a past year is pretty good. They should also spotlight a certain year more often, also. So far, they've only done 1989 and 1982. With those spotlights, they should also wrap it up with the number one song from that year. But even w¡thout doing that, it is OK. As you all know, the station that I caught the show on dropped it at the beginning of the year, so I don't hear it anymore, but that's OK, since, as I said, it was beginning to get boring (remember the lame-o spotlight in October - random #1 songs from each year in the 1990's? How original!) and besides, they're back to updating the "this week on AT40" page on this site, so I can see what I missed (and usually, it turns out that I didn't really miss a thing!)
I still keep hoping that WLIT dropped the show for the reason that I no longer really liked it and are looking into picking up on Dick Clark's US Music Survey, or something else cool like that. I tune into WLIT at 9:00 on Sunday nights, but when I find out that it's regular programming, I switch the station.

Either that or get prepaed for spotlights on Flat Chested Women of other such fine topics..... It isn't often stations drop one show to pick up another unless a certain network forces that occurence. I wouldn't hold my breath it will be there anytime soon.

I recall that WTMX dropped Dick Clark's show (when it was still called "Countdown America") in early December, 1993 and, in March, 1994, picked up "Casey's Countdown". Sometimes it takes time to pick up the other show, due to negotiations and stuff.
Moreover, I don't really expect the station will start running the show. If they do, great, but it's most likely that they won't, since Saturday night is the only night they have a chance to run regular programming, since WLIT airs Delilah on all the other nights.
