Robin Thicke recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Charts with his smash, "Lost Without You", and became the first white male artist to hit No. 1 on the R&B charts since George Michael did it back in 1988 with "One More Try". Well, does anybody know, how many white female artists have hit No. 1 on the Billboard R&B charts?, and which white female artist has been the most successful on the R&B charts?

How about Teena Marie ("Ooh La La La") in 1988?

The best answer is Michael Jackson But I'll say MaDonna.

How about Lisa Stansfield?

Yeah, Lisa Stansfield has the most number ones (three) and Teena Marie is the most successful overall. I'd have to check, but I think those may be the only two solo white females to hit #1 R&B in the modern era (since 1965). Lesley Gore and Little Peggy March each had a #1 R&B before that.
(Surprisingly, Madonna only has one Top Ten R&B hit to her credit.)

Which MaDonna song was that? "Into the Groove?"

Nope... that peaked at #19. "Like A Virgin" was her biggest (#9), and "Vogue" (#16) and "Like A Prayer" (#20) were her only other Top 20 R&B hits.

Well mstgator, Teena Marie is the most successful white female artist in the history of the Billboard R&B charts. She had an amazing 24 songs that hit the R&B charts. Very impressive for a white female.
