Hi I'm Looking to Sell My Rather Large Cassette Single Collection aether as a whole or individually or in parts. Does anybody know how i would go about this. E-bay seems to charge fees i don't want to pay in order to make a sale and i don't think I would make a large enough Profit. Any Help would be great or if anybody is interested let me know the price is negotiable. the condition of the cassettes is NM to mint but the covers have normal wear. I have almost every top 40 hits of the 1990's on Casingle about 75 to 80 percent from 1990 until march 1999 not including the album tracks. any help trying to unload this great collection would be greatly appreciated.
you can contact me at top40man@optonline.net

I collected every cassette single to make the HOT 100 from 1990 through January 1995 (with the exception of U Can't Touch This 12 inch, Phil Collins Who Said I Would Promo CD single, and CD only ones like 10000 Maniacs, and Nine Inch Nails etc) I think I missed one that was obtainable. It was "Push The Feeling On" by the Nightcrawlers, it was either that or something by Clubland. They were on the same label. I have the 12 inch vinyl of Nightcrawlers though. Was wondering if you had that one for sale?
Just curious did you ever get the cassette single of Blind Melon "No Rain"? I bought it when it was in the bubbling under (I bought them too). and never thought any more of it, when I was in a music store and someone asked the clerk for that cassette single. They told them that it was never on one. I told them that yeah it is, I've got it, and she couldn't believe it, she said she'd never seen it before and didn't know it exsisted. I guess since Ibought it that early that's why, and even then the store only had one copy of it.
That was one of the signs of how the record industry was going to play games with us the consumers. They were getting good at cutting them out on the way to #1 (for eg: Vanilla Ice), and right after the first limited batch (Bryan Adams Do I Have To Say The Words)

no I don't have Push this feeling On. I also never got No Rain on Casetee Single . The reason simple by the time it made the top 40 there was no Casette Single and I had to get the CD Single. I only compleated the top 40 potion as money was tight and I missed about 10 to 20 from 1990-91 because I was in bording scholl and by the time i tried to find them it was too late. An interesting story I was this close to geting Ice Ice baby And My x Girl siad no it was eather making her happy or getting the single witch my fridn across the street has. by the time we broke up a week later is was out of print. i contuiued to get every top 40 hit sof the 90's on casette single until early 1999 when switched to just having them on something , If they had a single I got it usually on Cd if not i just got the full album. I tried to compleate the whole hot 100 from 2000 but when downloads strated happening I gave up as some of the downloads on I tunes Are in limited relases (i.e. Across The universe and Cry Baby/Piece of my Heart).. I '' like to get every hot 100 single (Including airplay and sales until 1991) but could not seem to find just ionce song "Let Get Into Something Sexy" by Erik Hicks. I Looked every where and gave up. So to some up my collection I have every #1 200 Album since 1970 I have discs with every Number hit since 1955 (I used a combonation of what Joel and Fried said was number one) Joel uses A Number of charts and started the first week in 1955 and Fred listed the double sided hits. I never used the pop 100 becuse I think of it as a seperate chart but i did include the albums track that went to number one during the 90's and I'll be there for you and torn since they chart only after the fact. yes i did also include Iris even though it made #9 on the hot 100 months after it hit #1 airplay. I also have every hot 100 hits on 28 discs of the 1980's and every top 40 hit on origonal full lengh cd from the 1990's. If there was no full lengfh CD then I have the CD single. as for this decade i have every hot 100 hit until the end of 2004 then the madness started and csongs only downloadable charted and I stoped caring I only buy the number ones on a regular basis.

It turns out I have the Nightcrawlers. It's "Set Me Free" by Clubland I didn't have. I quit collecting the HOT 100 when my daughter was born in 1995, and too many non single LP cuts were getting popular, and the current music I grew weary of. Most of these cassette singles are still sealed. Yes I do have the Erik Hicks one since it made the bubbling under.
Regarding that 28 disk MP3 set of all of the HOT 100 '80s songs, I have that too and one song is missing, and some others aren't the 45 chart version. Let me explain, "Ready For Love" by Silverado is not the right song on that set, what you have is "Ready For Love" by Dan Peek from his 1979 LP "All Things Are Possible". "Blues Power" by Eric Clapton, "Closer To The Heart" by Rush, "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel, and "Once In A Lifetime" by Talking Heads are studio versions on this set, and should be live recordings with the exception of Clapton, The Rush and Gabriel studio versions hit in the 70's and the Talking Heads studio version bubbled under. Bill Conti's "Theme From Dynasty" is a one minute version from a TV themes disk and is not the 45 full length version. Only the #10 version of "Relax" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood is included, the 1984 chart version was a little bit different mix.
The Silverado one is the big one though. I didn't play the record much (only hitting #92), the 45 was hard to get, I had to buy the LP first to get the song and got the 45 later. when I heard it on that set, I kept thinking something was wrong, I kept thinking it was a faster song, so I got it out and yep. Luckily I did a search for the title and figured the other might be Dan Peek, I had the album, played the cut, and yep a match.
I agree about the "Iris" one. "Torn" as well.
Some people just didn't get the fact that calling "Torn" a #42 chart song just because it hit there on it's last couple weeks of chart life, just as the LP cuts were allowed to make it. It was a joined in progress hit, and thus #42 position is meaningless, just like "Iris" it just happened to be at #9 on it's way down in popularity.
When BB started the Rock Tracks chart in 1981 on the first chart of course some songs were on the rise in popularity, and some were on there last leg. For instance "Back In Black" by AC/DC only hit like #55, well we all know that this was at the end of it's popularity, and that if Rock Tracks would've been out in at least January, it would've been top ten. So you have to know on some songs those peaks don't mean too much.

saintfan It's looks like Phil fixed most of his mistakes since your copy of the 28 discs. all the live songs are included and relax is included in 2 versions. i don't know about the silverado song though. I just purchesed the Silverado LP and plan to change the song if nessasary on my MP3 player. i also e-mailed Phil to see if he changed the song

Cdman, any chance I could do a trade with you for the 28-disc 80s set. I was actually going to do that as a project. I didnt know someone had alread done it - gather all the Hot 100s fromt he 80s that is. Thats quite a feat. Just curious - do you know how many songs that is?
And that set, its 28 cd-rs? Anyoen ever transferred it to dvd-rs so itd be smaller? If so, how many did it end up being?
Yeah, so if we can work something out (I collect syndicated radio shows so I have a lot of stuff), let me know. I also have DVDs of about 2000+ sporting events back to the 70s. I can email lists if youd like.
Thanks! Shawn spt72@yahoo.com

cdman,
After going through the set, back in 2005, I e-mailed Phil all of those I mentioned, so maybe that's when he corrected them, I guess my update came full circle. The Silverado however was more recently when I informed about it.
Does he have two versions of "Switchin' To Glide" by the Kings on there? "Switchin To Glide" by itself with the clean (non-segued) intro, and the version with "This Beat Goes On"/"Switchin' To Glide" both songs segued together.
I told him about that as well. Basically when you look at the chart and see it listed by itself and as a double sided hit, it's because of the above and how they were played.
Another example would have been Jackson Browne "Stay". It Was listed on the chart first as "Stay" (it had a song called "Rosie" on the flip) "The Load Out" was changed on the flipside, and then the record was listed as "Stay/The Load Out". I feel it was because stations played the two songs segued together. Technically they should be "The Load Out/Stay" and "This Beat Goes On"/Switchin To Glide" instead of the other way around.
Both of these songs also had different flips when they first charted and then had them changed to the other.
Similar to "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" by Queen however "Rock You" was also the flip and for some unknown reason BB never listed them together on the chart in that original 1977-78 chart run. An oversite that didn't happen again when Jackson Browne charted a few months later.

He only has one version of Switching to glide on there. I also e-mailed about that one and he said the two songs belongs together.

Well they belong together yes and no (see explanation above). I have the feeling if "Glide" would've made AT 40 (#43), they would've played it by itself, not with "Beat".

Ive only heard of the version with both, I can't imagine it just ending early like that.

Which song just ending like that? "Switchin' To Glide" or "This Beat Goes On"?
"This Beat Goes On" was never played by itself, it was played with "Switchin' To Glide" segued into it. However "Switchin' To Glide" was played by itself when it first hit the HOT 100 in July 1980. The song hit #56 and then eventually dropped down to #98 and then started climbing again and going to #43.
I think it's safe to assume that this is when the LP version with the songs together began to take shape causing the resurgence. This is what led Elektra to change the B side from "My Habit" to "This Beat Goes On". This way both titles could be listed on the chart, since they were both on the 45. With "My Habit" still as the B side they couldn't.
