80's Classic Albums Cuts Or B Sides

I was interested in making a mp3 disco of songs played on top 40 radio in the 1980's that were not eligible for the hot 100. i have a partial list but as i was young back then was hoping others could add to my list. my criteria is simple. the song has to not be eligible for the hot 100 and earthier played on top 40 radio enough that i should have made if a single was release, or played enough on MTV that you would think it charted or just an album track you would think charted. the other rule is it can not have charted on any of BB others charts except Dance or rock as some track form those charts were ineligible for the hot 100. here is the list so far.

i Have Compleate List of whats on the disc so far for anybody who wants it these are just the songs i want to keep on the disc when I make a final copy. if anybody Can think of any non hot 100 songs of the 80's I'm missing please let me know. Also if anybody feels that any one of these songs doesn't belong on the list let me know that too

(*) - I made an exception for the two songs hard Day and Into The Groove Because for some reason Billboard let them chart on the R&B charts but they were not eligible for the Hot 100.

Some of the songs on your list were released on singles; thus were elegible for the Hot 100. Some others were B sides of other hits.

I Don't Care if they wrere released as singles just if they were though of as album tracks and din't chart on a quote un quote singles chart where you had to be singles to chart. i'm not sure how to count the ac chart as albums track started charting in the late 1980's and as far back as the 70's i think. anytbody care to share there thoughts?

I'm a little confused. First you say the song can't be eligible for the Hot 100, and the only way that can happen is if they were not released as a commercial single, but then you said that you didn't care if they were released as singles which then makes them eligible to enter the Hot 100, regardless of whether they are able to do so or not.

Regarding your criterion on "playing on Top 40 radio enough", part of the difficulty is defining your criterion. There are probably a number of local hits or even regional hits but would these songs qualify on your list? There are also Top 40 stations that are either rock-leaning, R&B-leaning or AC-leaning which could've produced a number of local hits only for that station, or even all AC-leaning Top 40 stations in the country, but you would need to have such a station in your listening area to know what they are playing in the first place, and then compare their playlists to what's happening on the Hot 100.

One solution is to see if you can find countdown listings from major Top 40 markets and check their playlists against the Hot 100. I don't know how you would acquire such lists though.

I'm Sorry if I Confused Anyboy. let me clarify My Self, I want A List singles or not of songs that had us wondering why did they not make the hot 100 or even bubble under. and I want ones that we can't answer hey they made another singles chart they had there chance. by using the R&B or Country Or possibly The AC Charts you could say they had there chance. By using the rock trackas or Dance Charts that was not always the case. Regarding local hits and I know there where a few same thory they had there chance. i want Songs were you could eather answer in the case of Trapped By Bruce Springsteen Or Tell Me i'm Not Dreaming By The jackson Brothers They Were Never Reamsed As Singles Or in the Case Of Into The Groove Or All At Once I Don''t No Why They Charted. Now i Hope You Get The idea. i Want Songs That Wee nationaly Played on top 40 radio without hitting the chart. If you remember hearing a song not on my list on your local top 40 station during the 1980's and it never charted or even bubbled under let me nkwo about it.

Hit #6 on R&R's pop chart. But since it wasn't released as a single, it wasn't eligible for the Hot 100.
