For anybody who is interested. the post about doing a complete collection of every hot 100 song from the 80's has inspired me. I'd like to be part of any project that complete my collection of the 1980's but since so Meany vinyls are needed I'm going to take my time with it and until I find out if American memories by Shamus Cool can be found and if a source that I have a lead on to get a completed set of the 80's hits is given time I've decided to move on to the 1990's. now for those who believe or will mention the RIAA or illegal file sharing you'll be happy to know I'm going to purchase all the missing song from that decade. i would say i have about 75 to 80 percent or more already including every top 40 hit as i worked at a local records store from 1994 to 2003. the key is looking for the remaining song used they can sometimes be under a dollar. a bargain if only for the one hit. I'm going to for those interested keep this board updated at to my progress on putting the songs on my PC. they way I'm working this is i will add songs up to the point I need one and then get the song i need and continue as to not have high costs and to keep costs down. I'm using Joel's top pop annual as my source and am going in order by year from lowest hits to biggest. I am also going to include the radio monitor hits as they are in Joel's book and the double sided hits as well.
i will update when each year is over or when I reach the top 40 portion of each year. wish me luck and when I'm done this should be a nice mix and yes i will have mp3 to pass on as long as you pass one on down the line.

PS this will not be a fast project and i know it!

One thing and I have to do this by myself is for the 1990's since I've checked and every song that charted in the 1990's in available on Cd. I'd like to personally own each song on an original Cd not copy's or getting the song from other people. my goal is to get the song on aether the full length Cd best of Cd Single or compilation. I'm 80 percent of the Way done and think with in a year or two can complete this list by myself. when it's done I will make a copy and do the trade thing where you get a copy in trade for making a copy for someone else on this board. be aware that I believe in freedom of speech and i am trying not to use the clean venison of many of the rap dirty songs. included will be all the hot 100 radio monitor songs as listed in Joel's book and all songs the debuted in 1999 but peaked in 2000 and all the songs that peaked in 1989 but where still on the chart. if i run into any problems getting any of the hard to find songs I will post them here and ask for help but remember they must be from an original copy and not a site like kazza or morphus as i call that stealing.
a big feet for the top 40 portion of the hot 100 i own every song on it's original CD not a compilation or greatest hits unless like the Star spangled banner or Voices that care there was no full length CD in those case i own the Cd single. I tried to get every single that charted between 1990 and 1998 and the ones available for 1999 bur stopped because being at boarding left me with little funds in the early 90'S and cassette singles when they get old are hard to find.

I;'m having some trouble. I've confermed that all of the songs thaqt made the hoyt 100 or the radio moniter or sales lists are avalabe except i lonely one. an airplay hit called "Let's Get into Something Sexy" by Erik Hicks. It was avalable acording to Joel's boook on at least casette single and I though i found a promo cd single on the on-line but the seller wrote back saying it was a mistake and it sould out right before I borught it. fortunitly I eas not charged for it. I've trited amazon, Half-con, second spin ebay and gemm and will try back every few days to see if it turns up. I also against my better judemnet tried a few downlad sights also with no luck. If anybody out there has this song or knows where to get it let me know. any ideas of places I might not have looked would also be welcomeed. it would be a shame If I feel short by only one song.
