Here's an imagine this, if Premiere acquired the rights to Casey's Top 40 with Westwood One agreement. How would a series of CT40 #1 songs from the Casey's Top 40 from January 1989 to March 1998 (similar to Premiere's AT40 #1 songs of the 70's and AT40 #1 songs of the 1980's series) work with Casey's CT40 bits? How many episodes would there be? The first #1 CT40 song would be "Two Hearts" by Phil Collins from 1989 and the last #1 CT40 song (prior to the restarting of AT40) would be "My Heart Would Go On" by Celene Dion.

I’m not familiar with the AT40 “#1s series” you are referring to, so I can’t answer your questions, but I do know that the first #1 song on Casey’s Top 40 was “Two Hearts” by Phil Collins. “Lost In Your Eyes” was actually the 4th #1 song of CT40, hitting #1 in February.

I'm assuming he's talking about the Ken Martin produced "Number One Hits of the 70's/80's" shows that have been offered by Premiere in the last 10 years.
If Premiere were to hypothetically gain rights to these shows, I'd prefer the 80's series get a proper conclusion first (later 1988 to 1989) and then run the series right up until the end of Casey's run (CT40/AT40 2.0) in 2003/2004.
Given longer runs at number one in the 90's/00's, there would be fewer songs to fill up the series. The 70's series ran for 6 4 hour shows (now being re-cut into 8 3 hour shows), and the 80's series currently has 5 4 hour shows that go until the number ones of late 1988.

I see, can you point me to more information about where I could hear those shows? Google is no help, and it's the first I've heard of it.

Premiere has offered those shows as bonus shows on New Years, Memorial Day, Labor Day and other longer weekends when affiliates have a few hours to fill with special programming. I'm not sure if the iHeart AT40 70s/80s channel has played them in their rotation. Ken produced these shows starting back in 2013 or 2014 as I recall. It's essentially splicing together parts of the original shows so that it 'sounds' like Casey introducing the number one hits through the decade. It started with the Number One Hits of the 1970s, which was originally broadcast by Premiere as 6 four-hour blocks. Since many 1970s affiliates only have a 3 hour block to air these shows, Premiere has since re-cut the show into 8 three-hour blocks. When he finished with the 1970's Ken did the same with the 1980's, going up as far as he could into late 1988 (I think he had enough usable bits of Casey talk segments to complete up to 'Kokomo' by the Beach Boys). The 1980's series was split into 5 four-hour shows for similar distribution.

Apparently K M Richards ran this show this past weekend on his station KRBE: What unaired Labor Day bonus program? #1 Hits of the 1980s, part two. I ran part one last month in place of the 1980 show.

If there was a CT #1's, I would think it would be actually easier because if I am not mistaken, didn't Casey do a story before every #1 about the artist or the song? I know he did it for sure later on in the show's run.

I remember during Donna Lewis' run in 1996, I was thinking they were going to run out of stories. 😂 I just heard the 1996 run last year, but I don't recall all the stories used. One of these days I'll make a list for the entire run. Just wish I had a lot more time to do stuff like this than I do.

The writers should have gotten overtime coming up with 12 Donna stories!

Maybe to cut down on #1 stories, Casey should have done the recap of #1 songs on other charts before #1 was played.
