I was wondering if there is any kind of Top 40 appearance Shadoe might have made after his run as host ended in 1995. I really enjoy Shadoe's delivery and his hosting job and think it would be neat if he had any random appearances on any type of Top 40 show. I thought someone once said they thought he was featured in an audio clip either on an AT40 or Rick Dees show from the 2000s, but I think that was just a speculation. As far as I know, he never guest hosted any AT40s or Rick Dees post-1995. Or did he? I think it would have been cool even if he guest hosted a show, but I don't think he did at any point. And I suppose he never did his own Top 40 program? Personally, I think he would have been a great guest host for the later Casey era or early Seacrest era when one of them was out.

In May of 2000, Casey mentioned Shadow in a segment for Rob Durkee's book on AT. Other than that, I have never heard his name invoked at all.

The show failed during Shadoe's tenure, as ratings fell after Casey left. I don't think Shadoe would have been suited for doing guest host duties during the show's current run.
It is, however, amazing that my local radio station, OZ-FM in Newfoundland, was one of the very few remaining radio stations to air the original run right to the last day.

If Casey had permanently gone off the air in 1988 instead of 2009, I'd like to think AT40 with Shadoe would have been more successful (chart methodology aside). Shadoe had some very tough shoes to fill, and I felt he was really squeezed and limited. The Flashback was one of my favorite features.
The show where Casey mentions Shadoe is 5/13/2000. I'll have to check my HAC program from the same date; wonder if it's in there as well.

Shadoe was a great host. His tenure was snakebit by ever-changing chart methodology in the last half of his stint (pushed in part by a changing and fragmenting radio landscape) and constant tinkering by producers and higher-ups.

Shadoe was mentioned by Casey at least once on American Top 10. Larry has mentioned him at least once in an optional segment from a 1988 show. When Neil Patrick Harris filled in for Seacrest, he mentioned Shadoe. And when Kerri & Mike Kasem had a tribute show to their dad in 2014, there was a clip from Shadoe honoring Casey.

His tenure was snakebit by ever-changing chart methodology in the last half of his stint (pushed in part by a changing and fragmenting radio landscape) and constant tinkering by producers and higher-ups. Not to mention when AT40 then with Shadoe changed the chart source twice: First after Thanksgiving 1991 when AT40 switched from the Billboard Hot 100 chart source to the Billboard Top 40 Radio Monitor chart source, and again after 1993 started when AT40 switched from the Billboard Top 40 Radio Monitor chart source to the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream chart source.
