Songwriter/Performer J. D. Souther RIP

Songwriter/Performer J.D. Souther passes away at age 78. I always enjoyed his Top 10 , You're Only Lonely, from 1979. I thought the song was written as short of a follow up to Roy Orbison's , Only The Lonely (#2/1960).

Always liked the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band Top 40 single "Fallin In Love".

David Geffen envisioned the trio as another Crosby, Stills and Nash type supergroup. It was a shame it didn't come to pass.

J.D. Souther was a fantastic singer/songwriter-The songs he came up with are truly iconic such as "Best Of My Love" & "New Kid In Town".

My all-time favorite songs by J.D. Souther are "You're Only Lonely" (#7 AT40 1979) & "Her Town Too" (#11 AT40 1981) with James Taylor!

Then also, "Best of My Love" (#1 AT40 1975) "New Kid in Town" (#1 AT40 1977) & "Heartache Tonight" (#1 AT40 1979) by the Eagles.

PS-"You're Only Lonely" sounds like a sequel to "Only the Lonely" by Roy Orbison.
