Complications from lung cancer took the life of Jerry Fuller on July 18 at the age of 85. As a singer, Jerry made the the Hot 100 four times between 1959 and 1961. His highest charting single was a rockabilly version of "Tennessee Waltz" that reached #63 late in 1959. It was as a songwriter and producer where Jerry made his mark. A song originally intended for Sam Cooke, "Travelin' Man" would become a #1 hit for Ricky Nelson. Further collaborations with Ricky Nelson produced the Top 10 hits "Young World" and "It's Up To You". In the mid-60, Jerry discovered the Knickerbockers and produced their #20 hit "Lies". As the 60s progressed, Jerry joined Columbia records as producer and talent scout. He produced the #2 hit for O. C. Smith "Little Green Apples". After discovering Gary Puckett, he wrote and produced the Top 10 hits "Young Girl", "Lady Willpower", and "Over You" for the singer and the Union Gap. With Jerry as producer, Mark Lindsay would reach the Top 10 early in 1970 with "Arizona". Jerry would reach the top of the Hot 100 early in 1974. He wrote and produced Al Wilson's "Show And Tell", a song originally recorded by Johnny Mathis in 1972. Mr. Fuller is survived by his wife of 59 years Annette; their children, Adam and Anna Fuller; his brother Bill; and a sister, Claudine West. Obituary
