There must have been no time constraints this week in 1987 as Commentary Casey was able to do a hard sell of MJs mammoth move 16-37 then they played the album cut of I Just Can't Stop Loving You.

Another that comes to mind; out of four weeks on AT40, I think they played the album cut for three. Only 4/7/84 featured the shorter punched up single of Kid's American. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mht2WBmB6PQ

Would "Ram Jam" and "Telephone Man" fit in this category?

Would "Ram Jam" and "Telephone Man" fit in this category? They would also fit in "songs that should've been butchered"....

Maybe programmers thought it was the former Supreme. Coincidentally (sorry, Alanis) she quit the Supremes at exactly the same time. I have no good explanation for this but I listened to that song on YouTube last week. I couldn't believe how short it was. It seemed endless on the radio.

On last week's 1987 Commentary Casey was able hard sell MJ going to #1 with a montage of prior chart toppers & they still had time for the album cut of I Just Can't Stop Loving You.
There must have been no time constraints that week as the last segment with the top 2 and closing theme song ran 13 minutes...
