Bob Newhart has passed away at the age of 94-He started out as an accountant before he made the transition to stand up comedy-He'll be remembered for two classic TV series "The Bob Newhart Show" (1972-1978) in which he played psychiatrist Bob Hartley & "Newhart" (1982-1990) in which he played a Vermont innkeeper named Dick Loudon-In 1960,Newhart released an album that spent 14 weeks at # 1-It was called "The Button Down Mind Of Bob Newhart"-It was the most successful comedy album of all time-I remember Casey Kasem mentioning that on "American Top 40".

Correction needed 1st post this thread: 80s "Newhart" CBS sitcom ended in 1990, not 1090.

One of my favorite Bob Newhart quotes… “I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'.”
Hilarious… I LOVE country music, but loved Bob's wit.
My father, who passed almost 10 years ago, was known to say “I love both kinds of music, Country and Western” :-)
