Anouk Aimee (1932-2024) & Donald Sutherland (1935-2024) We lost 2 giants of cinema in the last couple of days. First Anouk Aimee died on the 18th . Most famous to American viewers for her role on 1966 film “A man and a Woman”, she started her movie career in 1946… bbc.com/news/articles/clllev363y3oMy favorite story about her: Born Nicole Francoise Florence Dreyfus, her mother took the name Durand during Nazi occupation to escape the round up of Jews by the French police. When leaving her school one day, she recalled, one of her classmates began to shout: “Elle est juice!” (she's Jewish), as a German officer walked past. The officer, rather than taking her to the closest police station, took her hand to leave her at her house with her terrified mother. Two days later, today the 20th, we lost Donald Sutherland. Born in Saint John,NB (Cabbageville?! as Fonda's Bree Daniel's calls Klute's hometown- pun intended), he started his acting career in early 60s. deadline.com/2024/06/donald-sutherland-dead-1235978933/As for their musical performances, there's not much to say, not that they didn't try: 1st for Madame Anouk from 1961”Lola” youtu.be/UvS2ozjnwf0?si=8P-jDp4Wkeq_TbC8Now for D. Sutherland: youtu.be/qb-bgLY96ko?si=FtFeDC0Lp0fZK-CZBut did they ever appear in the same movie? Sure they did, like “Doctor Norman Bethune”.

Donald Sutherland was born in 1935 which means he was 88 when he passed away.

Anouk Aimee was born on April 27, 1932--the same day as someone else we here all know and love.
