It was 10 years ago yesterday (6/15) in the words of Larry Morgan,that the legend where the countdown began,passed away-Of course,i'm speaking about Casey-Thank goodness we still have the countdowns each week to remind us of how great a talent he was.

Oddly, Casey passed away on a Father's Day in 2014.

Last week on American Top 40 Ryan played a request from a listener whom he described as an AT40 fan going back to the days of "Our founding host, Casey Kasem". The requested song was Maroon 5's "Memories", a salute to departed friends. It wasn't specifically dedicated to Casey, but I wonder if it's only a coincidence that the song was played with a Casey mention on the 10th anniversary of Casey's passing.

And don't forget his voice work on many Hanna-Barbera cartoons - particularly Robin from Super Friends, Alexander Cabot on a certain cartoon with Josie and her band, and most notably Shaggy from Scooby-Doo Where Are You! and many of its spinoffs. |
