My fave is "Rockaria!", about a lass who "loves the way Puccini lays down a tune." Granted, I initially thought it was strictly for those who got off on music appreciation in high school, like the lass. But now I think it's also for those who hated it, like me. B+

The late Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" would be covered by Celine Dion in 1996.

Very saddened to learn of the passing of Eric Carmen.
Huge Raspberries fan. One of my music-related regrets was not going to their Chicago show on the Raspberries House Of Blues reunion tour in 2005. By all accounts it was wonderful.
I did buy the "Live On the Sunset Strip" CD/DVD collection. Still play it regularly.
Also enjoyed Eric's solo material as well. The Raspberries were so underrated; I feel they are Rock & roll Hall Of Fame worthy (C'mon! they're from Cleveland!). They were one of the forerunners of power pop, yet Capitol records marketed them as a teen pop band. Seriously affected their career.
Simply put, "Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)" is #2 on my all-time favorite songs, behind "One Fine Morning".
Thanks for all the wonderful music you wrote and performed through the years, Eric. It will forever be etched into the soundtrack of my life.
Condolences to the family of Eric Carmen. May he rest in peace.

The late Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" would be covered by Celine Dion in 1996. In a total coincidence, I heard that cover in the show I was listening to last night, probably around the time of Eric's death. That is a classic that he recorded especially the long version. RIP.

The melodies of both "All By Myself" and "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" were based on compositions by Russian pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff. The melody of the chorus to "All By Myself" was based on the chorus from the Raspberries "Let's Pretend". Rachmaninoff's compositions were in the public domain in the US at that time, but not worldwide. When this was discovered, Rachmaninoff's estate received a portion of the royalties.

Very saddened to read of Eric's passing. I loved his work with the Raspberries and solo material. I recently listened to the 3/2/1985 countdown and heard "I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips", which I felt underperformed. Great song that brings back many fond memories right around my 10th birthday.
RIP, Eric. Thank you for all your great music. 🎶

One of my favorite Casey stories was about the raspberry-scented LP (during the intro to 1972’s “Go All The Way”), which caused a record store customer to pass out.
And the follow-up, “I Wanna Be With You” is a lost classic. Too many other great Eric Carmen songs to mention. RIP

One of the biggest disappointments for me is that there is no 'true stereo' version of Go All The Way by the Raspberries--since the song was mixed to sound good on AM radio. Still one of my all time favorites.
Condolences to the Carmen family.

Tidbit: The 1974 Raspberries featuring the Late Eric Carmen song "Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)" was originally heard for a brief time in early 1975 on the New York City based Sunday kid show "Wonderama" during the Disco City segment when "The Disco Kid" made his introduction.

"Overnight Sensation" is a fantastic song-Can't believe it only got to # 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Sad to see him passed away.. I enjoyed his songs are good, like All by Myself, Hungry Eyes, etc.. Did Eric Carmen attempt to make a comeback in the 1990's-2000's with at least 1 more CD?

There's an interview on You Tube with Eric from ten years ago-It's very interesting.
